Certainly a lot of people take the opportunity to head out to Florida or something equally ridiculous/expensive, but as far as the name "summer vacation" is concerned, the school districts expect it to be a rest.

It's a rest from classes. The point, though, is that the school didn't create the idea of a summer vacation with trips in mind.

Every job is different an it's progressive. I'm fairly new at my job, 2 years, so I only get 3weeks, or 15 days off a year paid.

My mom has been with her company for something like 30 years, she gets 6 weeks, or 30 days a year off

One thing I loved about working for TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) as a corrections officer was all the vacation time you could accumulate. Instead of holiday "pay"...you get extra vacation hours..and here in Texas..there are a LOT of holidays we get paid for. Let me put it this way...after working for them for a year and a half..I took a paid 3 week vacation...I was off work for 4 weeks due to a car accident..also paid...plus I still had another 4 weeks of vacation/holiday/comp/sick time on the books.

If being a "boss lady" can be considered work..then yes..I did. I really enjoyed working out at the prison. Those other corrections officers were my kind of crazy. 8-D~
