pick your allies wisely. if your def ally is constantly grabbing and then getting retal'd he will constantly be using % of your forces to defend. Same with offense.

Just ask him to be a techer and 'leech' off him for all the off units you have lost..

I generally do not offensively ally with anyone unless they need the support to do a large retal. I hardly ever get landgrabbed so my defensive allies benefit from my defensive units, and generally benefit from my teching since I usually link them together, but once in a while, I'll get an ally that techs too, then both of us do quite well. Good allies are hard to find, and when you find them, you should make sure that you learn to keep them and find them again in the future.
