free speech is not freedom from consequence speech. Your protections only apply under a public space and/or from retaliation from law enforcement.
In Canada there is the additional restriction of "inciting hate" which has a very specific and narrow definition under the law however the definition of "public space" is broader (in some cases an advertising company can't refuse to display your political ad just because they disagree with it if their contract is with a government agency for instance) so there is a trade off.
