That isn't incentivizing people to build their acres to maximize your grabs then. They'd be wasting their money building to have you take them away.

So maybe you could have the following kind of pricing:

$800k per acre
$200k per ghost acre

It just destroys your buildings right? but you keep them. So how about just covering the building costs?

I'm assuming people will be able to grab their land before sending payment? As it appears, this new system is merely a method of paying people to not retal grabs. Also, the grabber ends up losing jets in the exchange, and the defender loses turrets. Is that part of the pricing structure?

EDIT: I mean, wouldn't it kinda suck to have a lot of defense, have someone "buy" your land, lose a lot of jets in the exchange...and the next day, drop most of your defense and let someone else buy your land for the same price? Or a lower price, if it's a friend?

I would think the cost of turrets/jets would be something the seller/buyer would factor into the price per acre when negotiating.

I don't think ghost acres destroys your buildings, it just creates bonus acres based on the percentage of land built. So it benefits the buyer more if the seller is fully built. But the seller will be losing the buildings on the acres that are grabbed, so he loses building costs and the turns he spent buildings, so he is incentivized to have as little built as possible while being grabbed.

Yes, it would suck to lose a lot of jets in the exchange. So request a lower price if this is the case, to compensate for your losses.

If I were selling land, I would probably want few defenses so I'm not losing massive military. It'd be similar to the landtrading we've seen in the past few resets. Low defense fat countries.

at 800k an acre you would make no ROI over the course of a normal set.

The land price should be incremental. So at the start of the set it when you are low in and it should be cheaper than when you are high. In the same way exploring works.
