anyway my personal theory...

picture this, this guy has been hammering, chiseling, scraping rock to make the calender for years cause it is a slow process. Finally he said fluff it... I have had enough. I have wasted so many good years of my life on this damn project. By the year 2012 if mankind can't keep track of their own days/months years then they are truly fluffed and they deserve to die off.

Now like that game where you pass a secret along to everyone and you see what it is at the end, well the story over the many years got distorted as well and now it means it is the end of the world.
