Numbers have always been an important factor.

When you combine big numbers with active members you can start making an impact when at war.

If you add knowledge and skill to the numbers and activity you get yourself quite a powerhouse. LaF and SoF both got all of this...

Its a combination of:

Numbers, activity, quality and politics. Political power is much harder to guage though and it is a very fluid factor.

Funny.

In my opinion, they've always been a great alliance, but are no re-establishing themselves as a powerhouse on 1a. But depending on who you ask, they'll have differing opinions on them.
