I suggest an automatic 2 week ban for anyone who creates a new thread just to get their post on the forums, rather than them posting in one of the existing threads, some of which have been created specifically for the purpose of people getting their bonus points without having everyone create a new thread for themselves.

When there's already threads called "Bonus post thread", someone being too lazy to use that thread and arrogant enough to create their own thread deserves a penalty.

How do we know the purpose?

What if someone has been gone for a long time, makes a post saying they are back, and then gets a two week ban?

Basically this suggestion, in an implementation sense, is to ban anyone whose first post of the week is a new thread?

If they say "posting just for my bonus post", that just gets on my nerves seeing a few of those. If they at least say something in their thread they create, don't ban them. If nothing else, we force them to say something other than "bonus post" when they create a thread just for their bonus post.

Kk, so this would be a mod enforced penalty. That is probably fair.

People posting in threads and saying "just posting for my bonus post" is also annoying, but not nearly as annoying as someone creating a whole new thread just for their bonus post. It's too bad we don't have a spirit of the rules provision, because posting "just posting for my bonus" goes against the spirit of the rules regarding the 4 bonus points a week for posting on the forums.

i have actually messaged a couple people saying if they continued to post "for bonus" or "." on announcements threads that i'd ban them permanently

Announcements forum and B&S forums are the two i read almost religiously ('cept for my vacation last week obviously haha), and having them bumped is annoying as hell
