It's been noted in several places that theos and commies are too strong... so, how about the following

Increase attack losses for commie by 15%

Increase defence losses for theo by 15% as well and remove the stupid GDI "penalty" for theo since it's worthless.

These changes would make med tech more popular.

Commies and Theos aren't too strong. I'd say that Republic, Democracy, Tyranny, and Fascist are all stronger, and in the right hands, dictator is the best government of all.

On alliance based servers, communism is possibly the weakest government. It is useful for early set warring, and for the novelty of playing an indy on a server where indy is barely viable, but thats about it.

Theocracies are generally only used for destocking, not during stockpiling and growing phases.

Additionally, medical tech has no affect on attack losses, and a 15% increase in defensive losses on just theocracies would cause no noticeable increase in the amount of medical tech used

Fair points. I probably should have qualified what I put by stating on primary server where, as has been noted, commies have won the past few resets.

[In primary] it seems that commies (or is it just that the players that play them) are the most voracious of the countries when it comes to grabbing so I was thinking the increase in attack losses would reduce their grabbing thereby reducing their size.

Didn't know military tech had no effect on attack losses... The wiki should be updated to show that more clearly.

Theo only penalty is the tech penalty, but is a HUGE penalty, the GDI "penalty" is a joke, because with some bonus points that problem is fixed, maybe there should be a bonus called Get rid of a penalty for 16 points.

Theo loses the GDI cost
Fasc gets normal population
Tyrany gets -10% Maximum PCI
Dict Gets -10% building speed
Commies get a 6% market commission
Republics gets -5% mil strength
Demos get 2 turns attacks


Theo isn't used to stock because the tech penalty is high enough to make it inferior to other governments, but not by a whole lot, and in servers without clans the initial push that comes with extra BPT is enough to give the theos a good "farming" lead on other governments.

I say Theo double GDI should be changed to NO GDI for theo, that would truly be a penalty on all servers.

Commie is limited to Indy, but yeah I would say in solo servers they shine, but honestly that is the only place they can be good, and only because the people they hit often enough don't do anything about it.

A commies strength is that it can be more agressive than other governments. In express and primary (where the commies have seen the most success) there are special GDI restrictions that make grabbing even less risky. These restrictions make it so that you don't have to purchase SDI, Tanks or Troops unless you double tap. The GDI is certainly helpful for all the top land-grabbers, but I think the bonus is only compounded with commies.

That would also be an explanation for why commies haven't been as successful in tourney where it is more dangerous to grab (especially in a).

Not to derail the thread, but I did not know this. Is there a reason medical tech does not work when attacking? This all of a sudden has become a much less useful tech to me.

Medtech shouldn't be more popular, but definitely more useful.
I like how the techs command different prices.
