the main reason is just so everyone is using the same time for "game time"

remember how confusing it was when things were changed from Central time to GMT?
Imagine that, but everyday :p

there was alot whining when it happened.

when mehul owned earth game time was cst but he used gmt at background and that caused alot troubles when there was switch to summer/wintertime.
