How come I can't see ghost acres in the news, but I can go to some offsite score page, and it's all there? Shouldn't Earth provide this information in house as well? This means in Tournament, it's impossible even to view ghost acres captured of any old attacks.

How will this be helpful? I never grab a country expecting how much ghost acres I'm gonna gain. I'm just now even thinking about it. Why don't I think "how much ghost acres am I going to get in this grab?"

Because I want to read my news later and see how much total I gained in this attack or that one, and the information isn't even available. Maybe someone attacks me, and I retal them, and I want to see what the net gain in land is and who came out more ahead or something. And the data's not there.

I think this would be better achieved by having country logs.. this functionality already exists with hits against you, I don't think it would be too hard to make a list for attacks you make (filtering it for attack types wouldn't hurt either).

Maybe so, just like your "sent" mail already exists on the server but you can't see it.

But what really baffles me is that the game is sending the ghost acre information out to eestats and earthgraphs, but not making it viewable in its own internal news.

I think the problem with the news page is that showing ghost acres would mess up the table formatting.
