i posted this on the BC forum, and was told that it would get better attention here... tho i see there are a helluva lot more posts here already, so this may have come up before :\

anyways...would it be at all possible to consider making it so that when your research ally techs, instead of getting an overall number of the tech you receive from them, you get a actual rundown of exactly what tech you have gained from them, and how much of each?

if its not doable or not a wanted feature i apologize for bringing it up at all.. its just something that i have always wished existed lol..

(tho im sure that many people know what tech the have at the end of the day and can deduce what has changed.. i am not so observant lol :P )

the issue here is a database space complexity issue.

Storing 1 number is much more space efficient than storing 6-12 :p

qz reworked the news system recently, so I'll let him comment on the viability of this suggestion :)

it is doable; i thought that was how we were going to do it at first to be honest, but then i was reminded that it might get annoying if your ally teched like 40 different times in a day and spammed your news....

it could be done though, without *too* much difficulty

The main question i guess is if it's worth it?

also just as i posted that i realized you might mean something slightly different... you want an amalgamated one with breakdown by tech? maybe...

Ya, I think what he wants is something like this:

You gained 20,000 tech points from your research ally qzs teching country (#123).
-Business: 5000
-Residential: 5000
-Agriculture: 10,000

That has a number of issues with the updated news system, but we can discuss that if you want qz.... I can think of a way to include it, but as you note, the effort may not be worth the gains from doing this.

maybe rather than the exact numbers do it. As your ally has focused his reasearch onto miltary and agricultural development. i imagine thats easier

realistically who gets 70 turns and thinks ill put 7 turns into each tech

exactly! i just think it would be a pretty sweet way of tracking the effectiveness of your tech ring.. as well as alot of other benefits. if its too much of a hassle then forget i brought it up, i really just wanted to know if it was doable, and if i would be the only person that finds the idea useful :P

also, what trainboy said would be pretty sweet too.. i just tend to never know what my ally is helping me with and if i know their tech trends i would be able to get alot more out of my own turns as well imo.

i'd be more interested in what points my ally researched that DIDN'T give me tech, because I didn't have enough of the tech to receive the full bonus :p
