Currently, it seems like the ability to purchase bushels on your private market is the single most useless facet of the game. Basically, unless you are incredibly dumb or run out of food in the first 100 turns, you will never purchase food on your private market. Is there a way we can change the game to make it more useful? Perhaps we could lower the base price and replenishment rate for bushels on the PM so that it could be useful to purchase for some people? Maybe like a Theo Farmer Reseller strat?

Bob Dole approves this message

I can't think of a single time I've ever bought private market bushels.

Selling bushels on the private clearly has tons of usage so that alone seems to demonstrate their utility. Obviously there is rarely a need to buy bushels for over $300 however if the market is empty (which does happen occasionally) and you just need to run a turn or two then there is need. I can assure you that if the real first world ever runs out of food that black market prices for food will be astronomical.

It is nice having a good on the private market that effectively doesn't have a public market cap, unlike military. Diversity is good.

you can also make the purchase price low enough so that theos or dems with max military tech could make a small profit just buying and selling on the PM, which is capped by the replenishment rate.

Terrible idea unless there is basically no replenishment. This basically kills farmer otherwise - being able to sell everything and not having expenses. Puts a severe cap on the public market.

bushels can't be reduced on the private market as it caps the public price.

it's not plausible if you want the public market to be vaguely interesting.

in express i bought private food quite a bit

the other downside is cash starts need to wait for food to hit public to start playing which is a bad thing

perhaps having $40 food able to be bought on private while in protection? yet leave the sell price at 32

qz, you have to admit the whole no more than 3x the private is sort of weird... =P

i still think this is a point maybe reduce it to a decent level $360 is a little high $200 still keeps it a last resort but one that dosent cost a arm and a leg

is oil max still 4200?

up to about 200x max

that was one of the highest multies for a buyout (multie as in multiplier)

as to food that 1080/39 i guess now so up to about 25x

mil only gets up to about 6x

and with the new 1k floor on tech thats only up to about 10x

How does selling at $900 vs $9000 matter? The person buying the absurdly expensive goods are still limited in how much they can afford to pay... realistically it could only hurt them by making each unit more expensive...

once mercinc did a 1m oil buyout at 4200, thats 42b cash with potentially only a 20m investment

oil can have massive blocks though while military there are pretty hard limits on how much people can block

since a lot of the mil on there is designed to be sold, so theres not a huge risk when your jumping anyway and you know the country getting the cash will probably chuck orders on to buy back a lot of the mil anyway

Or your point is the limiting factor is price*goods_sold, not cash available to buy goods?
