People take this GAME waaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously! All set long he goes about hitting everyone, their uncles, and their dogs. One good retal, and 133tz, that was a beauty of a retal, one GREAT retal, and he gives up! Sad. Hope he doesn't give up at life like that.

Crest plays like a fluff, but I don't think there are any rules about using folks' country names. Do you have any idea how many posts I'd have made by now if I wanted to complain about folks trying to use mine?

I'm just failing to see how it's a big deal. A sign of weakness, maybe....but as for lame, I just can't see it.

I didn't say it's a big deal, I only said it's lame. It's trading on someone else's name and it's blocking that person from using their preferred name. Your actions or ranking under that person's name also may be attributed to that person. I kind of like crest to be honest, I just don't think it's cool to thieve a dude's name. If my name ever got stolen I'd get along fine, I have other names I can use, but it's just not cool...

I see your point, and I do agree it's usually not done in the name of good sportsmanship, but there are plenty of ways to use your name still even if someone uses it. Heck, there have been 3 or 4 CRNA GORAs (or variations thereof) on this server in the same set a couple of times.

Sure it's not the nicest thing to do - I just really can't wrap my melon around it being a bad thing, especially since, as you said, you'll get along just fine without it.

crest - you're pretty easy to keep track of. Your style is rather....distinctive, let's say. Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, just that you don't have any problem doing fluff things in game purely for your own amusement, even if it's at the expense of others. Doesn't effect me one way or the other though, so I don't worry about it.

If I used the name to do evil on others, I would understand why it would be such a bad thing.

I typically have played Demo since I restarted playing, and as a techer, I typically rather not waste turns grabbing a hundred countries. So with weaps and mil strat, I pick a few targets and try to get to my land goal.

hmm, I'm sure you used that name to get people that recognize it to not hit you. Which kind of makes sense. I know that next set, I will avoid hitting some people that I've befriend this and prior set.

That's an awfully big assumption, no mdemon? I mean, I can think of a good half dozen reasons to use someone's name...seems rather presumptuous to settle on one, especially to be "sure" of it.

only time i would steal a name is if i wanted to suicide a bunch of people and make that person a bunch of enemies for sets to come. although i would never actually be that spiteful, of course.

I've done it a couple times in the past to draw heat off a friend. I've done it to tick people off. I've done it to gain myself a nice quiet set under the guise of another more peaceful player. I've even done it just for fluffs and giggles before, just to see what it brings my way.
