As all of you (hopefully) know we disabled it for this server and added corruption instead. Was this a positive change? Do you feel that the server played better with the limit in place? Please give your thoughts.

It's much better for this server as 8 hour stocking cycles aren't very practical IMO - I like it, but don't think it would benefit the other games as much.

I like it - I just wish I had remember that little tid bit when I hit 1.9 billion last set and thought it was time to destock even though it was a little earlier than I wanted....

Any chances of making this change in FFA? Now THAT would be wild! :-)

I don't want to see it in FFA, would make things (especially the market) less stable.
Thank God, for I'm a blessed man.

What exactly would change? 0.1% corruption is huge, i'd rather still convert my cash to bushels to save it. It's just when you sell stuff you can login with over 2bil.

I liked knowing that i could over sell and not lose cash, tho i still tried to stay under 2bil as much as possible.

I don't think it was, in any way, bad for this server tho, as bushels were still ~40 to 50 average all round.

I think its a good addition. Makes gameplay a bit more interesting.

MorT - food decays at the same rate, but then not only have you paid your cash out, you've also paid market taxes on it.

I think it would lower the income of farmers in the other servers. Here the market prices fluctuate a lot because the player base is too small for a stable market. But in servers where a lot of people play the food prices will stay low because there isn't an extra demand for it in the middle of the set (no one will be stocking bushels if they dont have to).

This will ofcourse cause less people to play farmer which will increase food prices again, but then other prices will drop as there will be more countries playing other strategies.
So in the end deleting the 2bil bug will result in lower market prices overall.

There are really only two good ways to improve the income of farmers which would be to make the consumption of food higher for civilians and militairy or increase the price for which you can sell bushels on the private market (purchases). That is ofcourse if you want to balance the income of the different strategies

I don't think it would remove the need to stock bushels, as the corruption will be very significant when you have large amounts of money at hand.

Another point is that your stock is somewhat protected while it is on the market.

I missed the corruption part. Yeah that would force you to stock bushels.

I feel good or bad about corruption depending upon the "point" of corruption.

If the point of corruption is to allow players to sell as much military as they can without all their money going bye, then I think its great because the player is allowed to go over 2B. On the flipside, it is very prohibitive to run more than 1 or two turns with anything slightly over 2B so it sure does prevent players from stocking cash.

I pretty much echo the rest.

it's only corruption on $ over 2B

so if you have 2,000,001,000 then you should have corruption of $1

if you have 3B you should have corruption of 1M

and yea, the point was mainly so that you could buy/sell as much as you want, but it'd still encourage people to throw their money into the market;

basically, to increase liquidity by allowing people to buy/sell with all their money, and also, in fact, encouraging them to buy/sell with all their money...

I can't see this hurting food prices too badly - sure some folks will be dumb and just blow past 2 billion because they can. But any smart netter knows it costs a heck of a lot less to stock then put bushels out to market than it does to run turns losing %.5 of your overage on $2 billion.

When might we expect to see this being tested qz?

NOW3P: the 2b bug was disabled like 2-3 rounds ago :P

But, I do not think the 2b bug is the most relevant for this server, as stocking time is very limited!

I could have broke 2 bil set before last, but decided to destock a little bit early instead of wasting $ buying/stocking bushels.

I didn't find out about the one a few sets back until the last day :-(

well it's already in express
we're just trying to get feedback... here...
and ideas about what people would think about it on other servers... FFA or Alliance for example...
