has the same player, under the same name, won back-to-back rounds before? I remember a guy named Milsbeek doing it back in ancient times in primary, heh.

also interesting to see the commies falling off the last couple rounds after winning the previous few.

For it to be a real challenge it has to be advertised before the round begins. :)

Good job though Andrew, #2 is a nice finish. Did Rob tech or what this round?

As you know I had a kerfuffle near the end, dropped my calculated finish by quite a bit heh. First time trying Repub casher.

I didn't stock very well either, and someone spied away $100M or so as well.

I think Rob cashed, although I never spied him. 22K acres wouldn't do very well as a techer, and judging by his late jump he wouldn't have taken advantage of the best tech market either.

I can empathise with getting money spied away, happened to me last set as well. Didn't really have that much time to grab properly this week, so have to be content with a top 10 finish. Some pretty impressive grabbing from the top 2! Well done.

MarinaBay...haha...I've told him until I'm blue in the face to join GDI and stop double-tapping but he never learns...

I played a techer at the start but decided to switch to casher when the tech market tanked.

Never realized how much fun it is playing a casher.

I wasn't actually targeting the land goal. I just kept grabbing as I didn't actually stock up at any point. I just cashed all the way through the end.

Nobody - declaring a challenge less than 12 hrs before the end of the set is not a competition, it's a measurement of folks who happened to be after land this set.

That was only back in July 2011, so it wasn't too long ago. There have been no changes since then.

No changes since then, but there isn't a lot of incentive to grow that large with 1800 turns. I didn't realize 2 people got above 40, I thought Rockman was the only one. And even then he only put up $17M NW. I'm sure he would have done better if he had stopped at 30k acres.

If land is what your after than yes its possible to get past 40k still (though I'm sure difficult). I've never tried and I think most people just try to maximize NW and not land.

I got 42k, then another LaF player got 38k the next weekend, and 42k the weekend after that, beating my land record by like 50 acres.

40k is possible without even double tapping anyone. Its easier, but riskier to do it with double taps.

I'm not sure that 40k is possible for someone who is netting, rather than going for land. That would require getting to 40k with probably 24-36 hours left, which would be very difficult.

i know some people get their rocks off trying to get kills, but coordinating a kill like this across more than one account seems sketchy to me on an individual server.
