Can you really claim a record with self-farming?

I don't know if I am the only one who sees the irony and hypocrisy here. In the first sets of FFA Hermes and Killer were dismissed by many because of self-farming.

Now, it's the bees knees and seems to be accepted across the board from a netting perspective (IE: NBK doesn't accept self-farming by members but..well...we're not aiming for top 25 finishes are we).

And then *fans firestorm* there's the taint of this reset and just how much of an advantage do LAE tagged countries have that they may not have had with the cheating. Did any of the clean LAE countries benefit from the shared landfarms? Etc.

So is it really worth keeping track of these records? It's like entering in a cheat code and then getting a highscore.

you also have to put a "*" next to that record since they were using pool multi farms

JAT - Is it any less of a record than the previous record that was set by someone's whose clanmates allowed him to farm them to reach 1mil acres?

I'm not self farming to net though....my country's way too haxored to finish any better than top 20. It's all about the land, and only the land. I also never hit anything but my own 15 in the process.

I don't think the achievement is any less worthy of notation because it was done internally - reaching 900k acres has taken a lot of planning and effort. I do think though, that someone who grabs 300k acres from other clans is just as deserving of notation.

No, it is not if the previous record was achieved by the same means/within the same guidelines/framework.

My main thrust was pointing out the shift in views of what is considered acceptable behaviour with regards to netgaining.

These records would've been laughed oof the boards 10 years ago outright by most simply due to self-farming. They would've been scrutinized and viewed warily with all the mass multi and botrunning 5 years ago.

I don't argue the point that these 'record setting' countries don't take a lot of effort and work. I'm willing to go as far as to argue that it takes more effort and time to run 15 with the aim of getting #1 in NW and land and all that compared to a warmonger handrunning 200 countries.

Camping the market. Running multiple complicated strats. Setting alarms in RL for market hits and all that jazz. Each turn is calculated. Etc.

It's just that the idea of any record in this game is....hollow.

As now3p, I havn't touched a single country outside of my 15 string. Anyone caring to examine the news can easily conclude that.

I think I just set the bar...

I dont see how any of the top 10 for that matter can be called netting...I mean really how hard is it to self farm buy food FA food to one account while getting that about to 100k acres.

...and yes I am bitter I will have a bunch the majority of my countries over 100-110 mill nw not even be top 30-40 a this pace.

No offense, but I don't think it's very difficult to have 15 countries reach ~100m nw in ffa. I think it was more of a challenge to avoid having more than 2b bushels at hand...

well i havent stocked for a single day this entire reset

before i started self farming i was looking 15 135 mill NW countries if i had started stocking

so instead of taking 15 top 50 slots, i'm taking 1

also, self farming was always considered a no no. but this is a different time and place.
before we had like 10k bot multie countrys to farm. so there was a lot more land in the game.
also more legit players.
so there is an argument one way and the other...but imo it comes down to this. you should have to be able to defend your land. if u have 80k acres, and a 1mill MU break, then u deserve what ever hit you get.

MrCobalt: try it next reset, but its a lot easier to self farm and FA than it is to develop 100 mill nw countries IMO
