This makes my indy start ups suck slightly less with the key word being slightly.

I had no idea either. That actually makes commie-indy a slightly more palatable strat.

To me, that simply means he could've topped 300m with a GOOD strategy :P

Glad to see they've made it a more competitive strategy though.

The reason why it is harder to do in FFA, is because it is harder to keep your land. Every clan has dedicated retallers, and commies need to be able to make land on attacks.
Military prices also crash cause a ton of people just running military sell countries pretty much cause they are easy.
Different ballgame when you have several countries to work with :D

Your claim is that countries can only do well if they successfully midfeed? How many countries that finished in the top ten last set used that strategy?

Slagpit, I would say the reason it hasn't done well in FFA is that in order to either self farm effectively or FA chain it is necessary for the lower countries (farms) to be somewhere close in NW and it would be very difficult to keep that up with a high land commie indy. Not saying a top 10 isn't possible but it would take much more work than one for another strat.

Just grab other CIs, NW is proportional to land.

Oh, self farming they would do well at, but I don't self farm, so hence don't really consider it an option.
And the top ten woulda been a fair bit different had we not been warring and continuing to landgrab!

Just due to their nature commie indus have unnaturally high NW for whatever military they have off the market. So in a war they are the biggest, targets, and often easier ones then many smaller countries.

On the other hand, they have an easier time getting all their war techs up to decent levels, and they can boost their SPAL from a pre-war 20-30 up to a difficult 80 to 120 far faster than any other strategy.

Yes, because their tech effectiveness bonus makes their SDI better which ..... makes it easier to kill them??

No, it is because on average they need a very large cash supply to cover expenses, and SDI tech is more expensive for them then anyone else, so most commies tend not to get it, at least very much of it.

Commies are great and have a lot of potential, it is just that they are like 30% higher in NW then their off market military is worth, and you still have the expenses for the stuff that is on market.

A tyr/indy self farming on some cashers/farmers could make a killing here....but I think I'd much rather go casher, farmer, or techer still.
