Why do we have a country where 18 years olds are mature enough to vote have sex with anyone they want as long as they are 18 or older, get married, join the service, drive when you are 16, but for some reason they are not mature enough to drink, and some want to increase the age to 21 to smoke. now several stores are restricting sales of guns and ammo to 21 and over. maybe just make every thing 21 and over.

I really dont get what stance you are taking? You are just saying a bunch of things with different age limits for totally different reasons without making an arguement for why it would be better with 21 years. Do you mean that or are you making a joke? Or you are just trying to divide?

I drive, I have sex, I drink and I fire guns. Each of those things require very different levels of concentration, mindset, maturity and education. The consequences of doing it wrong vary too.

My guess is we would not be on AT talking about this if they were talking about raising the age of consent. You can do what you want as long as its not about your body, is that it?
When teenagers wanna have sex they will, and the WORST case then is that they dont buy anything and that they dont know what to do.

@Gerdler I think the idea behind his post is that you can't bubble wrap the world. More people die from STD's than guns, should you ban sex? More people die from driving than guns, should you ban driving? More people die alchohol related deaths than guns, should you ban drinking? More people die from bad eating habits than guns, some places are already banning sugar (essentially).

Infantilsiing the world seems to be the end-goal here for many people. Hope that clarifies things, correct me if I'm wrong farmer.

Look at it this way.

In the states you must be 21 to buy alcohol. That didnt seem to stop many of the people I grew up from finding a way to buy it.
I could really give a damn if shops want to increase the age.

18 to buy marijuana and related paraphernalia. Long guns. Kill.
