A few years back, my brother ( a teacher in Ohio), had a few students that needed a few extra points to pass.
( He was teaching Algebra-Calculus at a vo-tech that drew 90% of its population from the innercity schools of a difficult inner city population.)
So he made a math sheet, (politically correct) that didn't have a lot of things like Jesus, or Merry Christmas etc
The Math sheet took off and other teachers borrowed it, sure enough, 2nd hr a girl from his neighbors classroom walks in and says to my Brother,
"Mr Brother, I have a bone to pick with your Math sheet."
(Of course the whole class looks up and listens)
"Oh, really, what is it?"
The student said, "You see that thing up in the top right corner? Who is that?"
"Why its Santa Clause"
Student, "Well I'm offended that's there, you see, I don't think Santa is real, or belongs on something like that.....
Of course, the whole class is laughing, my brother is grinning and the attention only encouraged her to list all the reasons Santa would be offensive on a policially correct extra point assignment on the last day of the semester.
"Are you done?" Good, give me your sheet."
Mr brother proceeded to tear off the corner of the sheet with the offending Santa Clause, handed her the paper and asked if she was offended anymore.
"NO"
And of course his class erupted in laughter, and asked her to stay till they were done laughing.
As the student left his room, looked at his class, motioned for them to remain silent, raised a hand, and counted down from 5.
as his Hand got to zero, a classroom down the hall errupted in laughter. Which of course set off his classroom again,
That was his worse class, and apparently they were better behaved the next semester somehow that incident earned him some respect.
Anyways, I'd say Have a Merry Winter Season, but for some its not Merry,
So Have a Winter Season! and if Winter offends you, Move to Hawaii!
