it just appears that the universe is expanding because all matter is being sucked towards the black holes which bend space time such that it looks like things are moving farther away from each other.

so, in order for my drunken half-assed theory to be correct, um, black holes would be required to bend the space-time continuum faster than the speed of light. err, they sez that they're moving away because they're red-shifted... what the heck does red-shifted mean. oh well.
