Not a James Bond fan, he's a poorly fleshed out character based on a "if Casablanca were a spy" archetype that is boring imo. I don't know enough about his character to say whether being black works or not but literally the only fleshed out part of his character that I've seen is that he's a borderline rapey male. You couldn't make him a female anymore than you could make Lara Croft a male

JB being a guy seems kinda important to the story. A woman who gets 1-2 guys every movie is pretty lackluster, some have hundreds in one movie.
I dont see how skin color would matter to anyone who doesnt want to reintroduce the triangle trade tho.

Nah, he's actually based on real people. Partly Fleming himself, and also Forest Yeo-Thomas, a british agent who went by the code name white rabbit.
I believe some of it was also based on Sir Christopher Lee.

I doubt it, it's just to create a moment in the film where they say come in 007 and she walks in when people are expecting to see Daniel Craig. So a 00 means an agent licensed to kill, there have always been multiple 00 agents, say they have 20 on the go, when one retires or gets killed they replace them and give the new agent the old agent's 00 designation. So it's still a James Bond movie and unless it bombs there will be more in the future and James Bond will always be a guy cause the clue is in the name James. He could be black though, we do have black people in the UK you know and black people working for MI6.

Agreed. I went to play warrior and when I came back, the world had changed drastically. It's honestly disgusting and depressing. Real glad all the scars and brothers lost so that I could see a bunch of subpar female comedians can ruin one of the greatest paranormal documentary series of all time.

It's Hollywood...they like to do the "oh my gawd we need to rectify the social injustices of the world!". Except. When it's their own that's guilty.

Then it's a cover up. Other funny thing is how they all cry out for social reform, we need to do this or that, etc yet they live in a fantasy world, lots of money, have walls and armed security escorts, etc. Ironic ain't it?

Just another fad from Hollywood...in the end it's the almighty buck. Original Ghost Busters was folllowed up by a second due to their success. See any sequels for the current crew? In fact, no. The next GB is Ghostbusters: Afterlife and guess what? Oh my the all fem crew ain't in it!

Follow the buck...that's really their motto.

For the new black James Bond...we'll see. Depends on how they cast this one and how the story is. Could be good or bad. It's the money that determines if it will be successful with that Bond or not.

We're all arguing about something entirely hypothetical anyway as the James Bond actor is and remains WHITE. There was actually a lot of fuss in the UK press back when he was first cast about him being blonde, ppl were saying there shouldn't be a blond bond. Anyway if the stories were still set in the post war / cold war era having a black actor play bond would be a bit hard to believe but as the stories are set in the present day then there's no problem at all. Hell we could have a Muslim Bond.

Thanos COULD be neon pink. The Black Panther could be Japanese. Why do we have to denigrate characters with colors/genders/etc they were no designed for? Characters are written in a particular way for a specific purpose. These characters could obviously have different qualities-but that's not our decision. That decision is made by their creator.. Wakanda allowed slavery to happen to immediately benefit themselves. They allowed the grab for Africa to benefit their own agenda.
