United States is playing surprisingly well. I'm not talking about the lucky goal to tie either, they were playing just as well as England for most of the match, getting good quick counterstrikes with their forwards and long passes.

The short passing them was there, though didn't result in any effective situations.

Germany annihilated Australia, that was funny.

Lets face it, the US has a very good team, IMO every bit as good as the English team. This is the US team that had Brazil down 2-0 in the Cont. Cup final last year.

Germany squad is good, incredible speed.

But They only got 4 goals against Australia due to the incredible slowness and ineptitude of our 2 center backs, and the ridiculous tactical decision to completly modify the lineup and strategy for the germany game on short notice...

Even though Germany is my favorite, I think brazil or italy will win. Historically, Spain always messes up in the World Cup. Italy is boring, never impresses, but still they get the fluff done...

i know spain always messes up.. but if they are going to win it, now is the time.

Brazil are incredibly strong as well (as usual).

Italy will flop in the knockout stages i think if they come up against a big boy.. but will easily account for any smaller nation with their defensive style.. just my thought.

Can't say Brazil impressed too much, especially in the first half. Still, it's the first game, and could easily see on maicon when he scored, what a relief it was for the team.

I think Brazil is a different team than the days of old. They've gone from lots of flair from a few superstars to a nice well rounded team....I expect they'll do well.

Spain pulls this choke job all the time. They might half of the top 20 players in the world on that team and still manage lose.

I'm thinking Italy, Germany or Argentina is going to win it all.

I'm sure if I like Brazil's change. Their coach is too defensive... they are trying to hard to be a defensive squad like Italy and it doesn't suit their players... once they start playing the big boys, they won't be able to come back if they fall behind in the knock out games. Brazil's coach also decided to not put two or three of the best players in the world on his team in favor on run down players.

Italy's too old and just not that good anymore they'll get dumped in the round of 16 or at most the quarters when they have to play someone decent. Netherlands is my pick to win it all but Germany has looked the best so far.
