They aren't dead because the Twins offense looks bad and the Tigers are ahead of the Guards. You might not even need to be .500 to win the AL mid, so every team in that division has a chance with no one being good.

Playing for the chance to get rolled by a way better team in the playoffs isn't necessarily exciting for any of the teams tho.
