Selecting the penultimate "end time" from the drop down list fixed it though. Maybe the time on the list and the time on the server were slightly out of sync?
FFAT has always been a bit of a dog eat dog place, which goes hand in hand with the nature of the game we all play to an extent.
But, it is also the face of the community here - and, no matter how much we might dislike some individuals, it is in everyones interests that the overall community is a welcoming, tolerant one.
Recently I cant help but notice that the tone on here seems to have moved from that a bit. Some of the personal stuff seems a little too personal - other people may disagree, but when I see the same few individuals singled out repeatedly then I can't help but conclude that is wrong.
This isn't a defence of their ingame actions, some of which has been mind bogglingly silly, but if those actions have been dealt with appropriately ingame then why the need to target the individual on here?
There's also been a couple of examples where people have expressed differing political views, to which the response has been unsavoury.
I dont want to single out any individuals, as maybe it's more of a pack mentality taking over a bit. Perhaps the issue is also magnified by the smaller community and slower pace of FFAT than we are used to in the past.
I also know some people dont seem to help themselves, and I know a "why cant we all get along" plea would be utter fluff.
However maybe from time to time we all need to step back and think "no, i'm not going to post that - enough is enough".
I doubt someone from every alliance reads SR every few hours these days.
Even when the board was busy(ish) it was surprising how much good info you could get that did give you an advantage because most people didnt read it, or didn't pass the information on to others.
And what kind of idiot tries to get round a language filter?
That's pretty much saying "I'm such a tosser that I'm going to go out of my way to offend you if your the sort of person that is offended by mild bad language"
1 - It already has been authorised
2 - They are already dead
3 - I dont need your permission to act
4 - If you wanted to discuss this with me you should have done so by any of the numerous ways you could have got in touch with me. But seeing how you think FFAT is a suitable place to discuss internal matters I shall respond in kind. STFU, and bite me if you dont like it. I'm not in the mood for dealing with you.
Bauer, if you have a problem with EoEA then I suggest you contact a leader and try to resolve it. Running your mouth on here just gets you killed... as Lae have demonstrated.
If you feel mistreated by Azmodii you could try contacting me, but unless you have some new information I'm unaware of I doubt you'll get much joy.
Though really, shouldn't it be higher for FFA clans? Say, a minimum of 32 so it's at least 2 players which sounds like the bare minimum required to be classed as a clan?
I think Llaar makes a good point about the "Sorry, just a land grab" messages. Such messages seem to have gone out of fashion, but I'm sure they did lower the chances of people suiciding etc.
I used to make a point in saying that I would try not to hit them again, and if I could help them let me know - the responses were nearly always positive rather than logging back into a parking lot.
"Politics" isn't always about huge alliances making rules and pacts between each other - how you communicate with individual players can be just as important.
Sorry mate, but the ones that missiled the tag are all dead.
If you've been inserting your big dict in other places it shouldnt be that's for them to sort out... otherwise you'll just have to play with it all by yourself :P
However, as it is being generated on the fly, is there any reason why it can't be listed in inverse order - ie. most recent first?
When clicking on the catagories it would save scrolling through what could be grow to be a very long list to get to the bits I would have thought would be of greatest interest to most.
I think it's clear the l/g formula needs to be looked at to prevent it being possible to accumulate so many acres through self farming - a discussion for another thread perhaps.
As for raising the country limit, my concern would be that it would place too much power (and temptation) in the hands of those that might be tempted to run a bot. Once you have a limit higher than the amount of countries that the average player is willing to run by hand then those that chose to run the maximum number using illegal methods gain an advantage, while others would be tempted to turn to "aids" in order to be able to play the maximum.
Therefore I would say the question that needs to be asked is how many would people actually wish to run?
Having stumbled across this place, and having played Earth FFA ages ago, I figured why not give it a try.
So... I need a clan :)
I don't know if anyone I used to know is playing, but I used to be pretty handy to have around when warring, and am probably far too rusty to put a decent netting set together atm!
