And emotions. Lots of emotional drama too.
I agree with Sui that Alliance was better when tags had forums and took pride both in the Tag accomplishments in game and out. And yeah, the shift to peaceful tree-hugging has lost a the old fire and tension (it is supposed to be a WARgame) and not a few members.
But also the game itself is caught in a time stasis from when text-based games and such were exciting. The new super-graphic games get the young people so hard to attract new players. Meanwhile time moved us all and players dropped as they had careers, kids, other responsibilities. Fewer players made war harder. When the 100 tag alliances running 3 warchats a day changed to 50 - 30 - 20 who could barely run 1 a day more fire and excitement left. And more players left and the wars became more difficult and more players left.
Now it is a tribute to the pig-headed, never say die, stubborn resilience of the hard corps who stay and keep this game alive and even interesting at times. So I salute you all for being here, for helping push this rock uphill every day. This community is something to be proud of, even if it is in a pyrrhic kind of achievement.
