This country has a deep belief in the constitutional idea of separation of church and state and freedom of religion.

There is no collection of politicians, that includes a local or national legislature, that would ever pass such a bill. for starters, it would outrage their constituents on both sides of the aisle. we already know conservative groups would be in a rage. i can guarantee that liberals would be up in arms as well.

one would be hard pressed to find any politician that personally believed it would be a good idea to pass such a mandate. moreover, these types of precedents can only hurt you later e.g. what happens if a local community tends towards Islam or perhaps a different version of Christianity?

even still, i don't believe the courts would support any such mandate. it would be one heck of argument against the constitution.

honestly, i think this argument is projection. most religious conservatives would force their religion of us if they could. one could argue they already have. now that the shoe is on the other foot, they are scared liberals are going to act like them.

Not exactly. Viewpoint-based threats (including those that target hate groups) have and would continue to run afoul of the First Amendment.

bingo. even liberal groups would be against that sort of nonsense and I can't see any court upholding the law.

Either EVERYONE has their rights, or no one does. Find this post in the next 3-5 years once they've decided the bill of rights is just too old/passe or w/e and needs 'updating' for political correctness issues.

heh if they ever tell you that, remind them that most gay kids come from straight homes. so i guess we should take all the kids from straight homes and give em to the gays?

I wont argue the religion point of view of it all, just that it is totally still wierd seeing a couple from the same gender out in public showing affection in front of other people. It's downright tramatizing, they need to go back into the closet where they all belong.

there are such things as sperm banks, surrogate mothers, and adoption.
in fact, I think for the purpose of adoption this would be a great idea. kids need a home with loving parents....so give it to them.

however, marriage isn't necessarily about procreation or adoption rights for gays. starting a family might be on the top of your list but it doesn't have to be for everyone else. there are lots of benefits one gains when married: legal benefits, community recognition, and a shared sense of commitment that may be good for one's health. I see no reason to disallow these type of unions.

depends on the scenario.

1) If superman and batman have an unexpected encounter, then superman wins.

2) If batman knows ahead of time, he will have a plan involving kryptonite; I'd imagine he would place it in a lead box so superman can't use his X-ray. That fight will be more interesting and could go either way.

Anyways we're beyond those points. It's time this fluff ends and we need to talk in private.

I would have liked to see you explain why sharing private logs helps relations....and why aponic should trust your next conversations will be private.

It will be interesting to see if both sides can get over their grievances. My guess is no.

-iScode lol...you've done a great job of exposing him. I don't think he understands that the dealings between 'your leaders' and himself are not because they trust him, but because they have no choice; he is a leader after all right? Or perhaps he can drop a few private logs to show us where they said 'we trust you bud!'. Or maybe he can post Xyle's country number because he was entrusted with the information. There is a word that Tav used that I think fits this type of behavior.

I just can't understand why our honorable tro...err mdevol....can't address aponic's post. I guess when the facts are laid out it's harder to spin spin spin.

Good luck dealing with those guys apo. You seek honest dialogue but it's obvious from this exchange that SOME on the other side are more interested in spinning narratives on AT than actually moving forward.

aponic- you give those guys, especially mdevol, too much credit. Instead of responding to your post, after you laid out the facts and curtailed the spin, he moves on instead of publicly reflecting on your 'revelations'. ofc he doesn't save his words when he thinks he 'got' SoF. So all you have is that there was miscommunication between aponic and Sov? Yea...that's pretty damming....not.

Your original argument is supported by your mistaken perceptions of aponic's and SoF's intentions, and one of our country names. You are making too many assumptions about the inner workings of SoF. The answers you wanted were posted in the previous thread. However, just as iScode said, your disappearance was surprising....but expected. Go back there and address what was posted instead of dragging us through this conversation again.

ofc, the irony of what you are complaining about (signing secret pacts and general dishonesty) is exactly what you benefited from the past two sets. As a hint, refer to "my" country name last set.
