I played a little back in the late 1990s and early 2000s again. It did feel a lot tougher, but then again I was significantly younger and significantly dumber back then, haha. Also there was quite a bit of cheating back then

Based on experience, its better to keep a higher than average SPAL early, especially if youre not a commie who can pump up your spy count easily.

If you don't, as a landgrabber, you might end up in a situation with high acreage and when you start failing a sizeable amount of your spy ops, the loss of spies will only make your success rate decline even further getting into a cycle of increasingly failing spy ops. And then, it becomes really tough to get out of that cycle, unless you are willing to let a few days go by without significant land gain, which is counter productive.

I've learnt that the hard way this set in a server im unfamiliar with.

Thanks. Had a good clean set, once I decided to convert from a techer to casher. Really would have liked to play on as a techer but tech really sucks these days with the exception of the odd reset here and there.

I thought i'd be able to hit 30mil, but maybe going to 22k acres was a misjudgement and should have started stocking at 20k. Also converting to casher at 6k acres might not have been ideal

I doubt it will crash soon. Cashers, farmers and commies are still growing fast and will need more tech, much more. Also, the number of significant techers wont change anymore at this point. It will crash only when commies, farmers & cashers are into their stock phase which isnt anytime soon

Thanks. I had help, although I didnt intend it bild! I was gonna give this set up as work got really crazy so I left my 7k acres techer and logged in with 360 (300ish stored) turns and only then decided to convert to a casher seeing that tech prices sucked big time

Mav, why did you sit on 3b cash? I would think it could have been put to good use getting fatter before you even had that much cash. More offense, more land more defence.

I come across quite a few players sitting on huge piles of cash in express. I of course never hit them, but i find it rather surprising as its counterproductive to sit on cash until you start stocking. I would rather sit on a load of turns rather than cash

To make things worse, I decided to play casher in a set where tech and military prices are high, not to mention so is oil.

I played a techer at the start but decided to switch to casher when the tech market tanked.

Never realized how much fun it is playing a casher.

I wasn't actually targeting the land goal. I just kept grabbing as I didn't actually stock up at any point. I just cashed all the way through the end.

I have grabbed quite a few countries, and have not encountered a techer yet. I just see a lot of farmers with no tech. I think the problem is a lack of cashers to buy the tech

Nah, it was just one failed PS. If he really wanted to stop me it would have been worse. I I think he attempted an end of set retal since I grabbed him early on. Thats fair enough i guess.

I think I'll try CI this set - depending on how things line up early on. If not its tech as usual for me since I am clueless about how to play a winning casher

A techer will never win in primary under the existing conditions. Tech prices are way too low way too early.

Any strat can win. It just depends on market conditions. And dont trust everything I say on the boards - i may be biased in my opinions considering I play a techer and would like less tech on the market
