I placed a standing order to buy oil for ~100 when the most expensive standing order was at 30 or so. A few hours later I see the market news stating 20k barrels were sold for ~70, and not to me. How is this possible?

Are standing orders not immediate?

I think there should be oil on the pvt market similar to express. I want to attack but can't as there is no oil on the market, and have been in this situation many times before

Improving spy efficiency any further will actually be detrimental to the game. Its very easy to build a country with a high SPAL and it will be very tough to defend against if you are a huge country.

Which is something I learnt the hard way this set. 1 solitary landgrab on this guy and I get barraged to the ground 3 days running. 20k acres empty. I think ill just stick to Express & Tourney

Just play a commie then. You rarely ever go wrong with a commie.

I choose one hell of a set to play techer again, after swearing to myself never to ever play techer in express anymore some time back.

Tech prices sure were sweet. If I played it a bit better, and throughout the period when the tech market eventually crashed - I could have broken 35-40mil instead of having to dump 1-1.5mil tech pts for 999 instead.

Question: In a PS do you add your offensive allies contribution then x1.5 or is that excluded? I always thought it was included first than x1.5. That how I have been calculating and have not failed an attack with that on someone without defensive allies.

Ivan, multitaps are all right for violent retals but single taps like the one dantzig did certainly doesn't deserve being hit like that.

What determines how much ghost acres one gets from a grab?

I noticed some countries are grabbed for a significant amount of ghost acres and some almost 0 and even 0 at times.

I really fluffed up this set - like almost all other sets before this. Should never have multiple tapped near the end.

Anyways, from the past few sets, it appears that commies are really strong in express. Probably the strongest strat in Express.

I do hope the admins would consider a change to current tourney GDI rules to encourage grabbing as well as higher networths.

This would increase the competitiveness of tourney - similar to how Express became more competitive after the rule changes.

Tech leeching is in effect foreign aid. Why is it that foreign aid was removed tech leeching is allowed to go unchecked?

Tech leecing does not give a small advantage, but a huge advantage. Think about this situation:

A casher who gets 3 tech allies with 1000tpt early game. I buy some bus and res tech off the market. (just enough to get the 10% each turn from tech allies). For 50 turns spent researching at 1000tpt, I get 15k worth of tech free (3 allies) - which would have cost me 50mil.

Keeping in mind that 1000tpt only requires 4k+ acres, that 50mil savings at that point in the game is a huge advantage, taking into account the compounding effect.

And this is just talking about 50 turns of leecing from each ally at 1000tpt. Taking into account increasing tpt as the game progresses and over many hundred turns spent teching, the advantage is enormous.

I have won with a techer before & had a set which I was poised to finish between 25-30mil nw before getting gang suicided.

It used to be a winning strat, but no longer with the increase in the amount allowed to be sold on the market.

What about the amount of tech you receive should depend on either:

1) The amount you can research per turn

or

2) How much tech pts you have researched in a certain timeframe, say 12 hours perhaps

That would eliminate leeching & any incentive for deception.

Thats why we need Express GDI in tourney. The GDI now is not conducive to landgrabbing. After a while there are only a handful of people you can hit.

I would like to suggest a revision to tourney GDI.

Suggestion: Similar to express where missiles & special attacks only allowed for more than one landgrab.

Reasoning: Players dedication and effort don't get ruined randomly. Two landgrabs and you run the risk of being barraged or missiled, which is fair. For example this set after 1 landgrab, the country I attacked decided to load up on warfare and missile me everyday. The ability to do something like that over one attack, or sometimes completely unprovoked at times ruins the game.
