There is just too many variables at play here and the only way we will find out is over the next few sets. Lets just see how it goes

PS: I still think techers will be worse off, but i rather not argue about it till the cows come home :)

Okay, my head is starting to explode now (maybe happy hour didnt help), but Xin wouldnt the cheap start-up make early growth faster, and the compounding effect of growth on that fast start add up too? Im not sure how much effect this will have but im sure it would have an effect to negate some of the negative effects after 4k acres

I disagree that techers will benefit. I think the reverse is true for the reasons i stated above. To add to that:

The penalty is less before 30k thus techers can still grow to 30k maybe a few days later though. After that tech supply increases as all turns are spent teching.
However, demand will drop off faster as cashers, farmers and commies grow slower than now from that point onwards significantly and stock earlier

Yeah no kidding. I was building up and realized my cash just kept going up and not down! You dont even need to sell anything to fund the startup - that it ridiculous

He has to win next set. Its tradition.

I'm sure im screwed next set since i'm not as scientific as some here - BOTE calculations and gut feel is only going to get me so far :)

I think techers will suffer next set - less demand for tech earlier causing a steep crash, faster stocking by other strats causing food to be expensive pretty fast so techers lose more stock value, which will also make farmers stronger in relative terms.

I forgot completely about the changes and did my usual start-up.

Its so damn cheap to start up now!

I'm dont really care about the changes, as everyone will adapt.

The only thing that I absolutely dislike is that all networth records will stay, and all new sets will have lower networths. The reference points will have to start again and it will take a while before some precedence gets set

I agree with h20 on this - there is no way to balance all strats across all servers.

Cheap military has led to high defences, requiring plenty of jets to break. But at these oil prices, i'm actually having to cash quite a few turns just to make a single attack.

I dont know how the commies can afford to grab

I believe in life its always about milestones. We revolve around milestones as a way to keep life interesting.

1. Long term ones (promotions, kids, a nice house, that sports car etc).

2. Medium term ones (a vacation perhaps)

3. Short term ones (the weekend)

4. Then things like earth are one of the daily milestones

Actually if you pick wisely, you get suicided in a damaging way less than half the time.

Thats a 50% chance to challenge for the win which beats a 95% chance of not being in a position to even challenge.

Playing tourney just single tapping will get you maybe 30m at best

It beggars belief that military prices are still above 120.
Still waiting for the much prophesied crash. I like when i can buy military at ~100 :)

Damn, h20 nudged me out by 100k net from getting a first commie win!

Its just so time consuming playing a commie i dont know how you guys do it.

I must say its really strong though even in my noob-ish commie hands

Thats not taking into account the higher max tech levels of the demo leading to higher income, better weapons tech and higher gains due to milstrat

Might as well play a demo from the start and get the same land in 3 grab (for similar jets) as a monarchy would in 4 grabs. Then you only lose 1 turn per day from grabs but gain in tech effectiveness and zero market commissions

And if you take spying into account - making one more attack would require at least one more spy op, maybe 2

In that case the demo actually comes out saving turns, no market commissions, higher income, higher effective military strength!

I think this will just be an unnecessary complication.
I'f rather see tech and offensive leeches removed first before anything else gets fixed.
Then DR can be fixed.
Then everything else.

Big rocks first.

Just to add on to what oldman said, it was quite a unique set - which made it enjoyable despite it being quite a miserable set for cashers.

First there was the super expensive tech prices followed by a steep crash to ~1700 which then rebounded to 2200 or so for quite a while.

Military was quite pricey too in the beginning and then became really cheap for long periods before rebounding.

Never seen such a spike in food prices and again a steep and quick fall.

Very volatile conditions making it quite interesting and unpredictable - expect for the fact oldman was always going to win :)

I'll try again next set as a Rep - its been quite a learning experience for me

While i am in agreement of removing offensive and tech allies - i think the unfair advantage extends to def allies too, albeit to a lesser extent.

I dont think def allies should be removed, but maybe the max should be 50% of your def to counteract the PS bonus and not doubling of defence.
