If you're talking deployment to AOs, then YES troops will use oil in that they ride in something to get there. But the tanks, jets, weapons, ammo, water all come in on the same rig.
Once you're on the ground and operational, say from a mission direct deployment (from the FOB to objective rally points, targets, FOB's, etc.) troops spend about 80% of their time walking.
Furthermore, when I think "guerrilla strike" I think guys on the ground, sneaking around (no engine noise/support vehicles in earshot to giveaway someone might be coming in) killing all tactical like...Now, I have this vision of 24 guys killing fluff and another guy hauling around an oil barrel on a dolly for no apparent reason...
