Well I don't mind learning how to focus it and take night pictures etc... manually. I just cant bring in a tripod :P. Is the Canon T3i capable of doing that in dark settings?

Cant take a tripod into Universal Studios (or at least into the houses etc...) :P My current Nikon Coolpix which is a $100 camera for casual pictures doesnt focus at all at night and apparently cant be manually focused, which is one of the main reasons I'm looking to upgrade.

So I'm looking for a DSLR camera. Something that's not that big and bulky but that can be manually focused and can take very close up pictures at good resolution (of say a small marine animal or coral like in my aquarium). Also looking for something that will take good pictures in low light situations such as during Halloween Horror Nights. If it can take short burst photos for live action shots say at a basketball game that's a bonus.

Every camera I've seen has reviews saying it's the best thing ever and reviews saying it's absolute fluff. So some first hand experience if anyone here has any would be appreciated :P

I don't know how everyone is missing the obvious common sense preventative step. Have a school security(aka police) officer that has a weapon and possibly a kevlar vest/helmet/whatever in a securely locked weapons closet in his office at the school. We don't need teachers or kids having weapons but an actual trained officer who could stop or slow shooters until help arrives is much more effective than wholesale weapons bans or erecting fortresses around schools.

Alcohol kills way more people than semi-automatic weapons in the US and serves no essential purpose whatsoever, however I'd imagine most of the hippies that want gun bans would not advocate a return to prohibition.

Lieing and telling half-truths is not the exclusive domain of the Republicans. The Democrats are telling some rather large whoppers right now. Some examples:

Democrats will tell you we are heading in the right direction because we've had 30 months of private sector job growth. While that is true the job growth has been so poor that it is not keeping up with population growth.

They also mention the economy is growing but do not mention it is a paltry ~1.6% which is slower then 2011 which was in turn slower then 2010.

Democrats say unemployment is at 7.8% and that the economy therefore must be improving. They do not mention that a large driving force behind the employment rate going down is that people are giving up looking for work. If you counted those people unemployment would be 11%+

As much as the MSNBC douchebags like to call Romney and Ryan liars, they perpetuate a lot of bullfluff themselves.

Also disagree that there is more direct democracy in Europe. In America you vote for YOUR representative for your specific district to represent it. That is much more direct then a slate of national candidates that are voted in, in their order on the list and who are almost always 100% beholden to the party line else they will be removed from the list next election.

My point on the primacy of Parliament as it relates to freedom is that Parliament is essentially authoritarian. In the UK/Spain etc..... The only thing that could stop Parliament from passing a law that bans all political parties except the one in power would be the monarch nutting up and vetoing it(which monarchs almost never do). Parliaments can pass ANY laws no matter how egregious because in parliamentary systems there is no separation of powers. In the US Congress cannot just pass any law they want doing anything they want as Parliaments have the authority to do. This also ties in with the independent judiciary point.

Pontus: I will give you some examples of how Americans are more free.

There is no principle of the "primacy of Parliament" for the legislature.
We have an independent judiciary that can check excesses of other branches.
Our definition of free speech is broader then virtually any other country. For instance Europe's anti-trolling laws and their threshold for defamation would both be unconstitutional here.
We have an adversarial, and not inquisitional format for our criminal courts as some western European countries do.
Our freedom of religion also has a much broader definition. There are several religions in the US that are outright banned in some European countries such as Scientology.
The right to bear arms is almost non-existent in other free countries.

I was going to come on here and blast this moronic show for having a baby boomer say ANY generation is the worst ever when both the boomers' parents and children both agree it's the boomers who have managed to F everything up. However it appears trumpet and others beat me to it.

The US is in fact the greatest country on Earth, it has the largest economy, the most cultural influence, the most number of influential corporations, the best military, and it's citizens have a greater degree of freedom then other free countries. Sure there are some spots in the world like Norway that are great places to live, but most of those places only exist under the blanket of freedom that the US provides (and then turn around and question the manner in which we provide it) We would prefer they just say thank you, and be on their way.

After talking with the network engineers and the people who make 90k+ in my building doing IT(mostly contractors) I've found a few interesting tidbits. Namely:

-All Federal government IT employees are pretty much required to have a Security+ cert(which is good as I already have this) and that this is starting to trickle down to the state level for higher end jobs.

-CISSP will almost always get your resume at least seriously looked at if you have it.(A little background that may bias this though, where I work they pay for 1 person from the agency to get this training + exam every year determined by the CIO and that slot is highly sought after here)

-CCNA likely won't get you looked at for anything other then entry level jobs, but you should still get it as a stepping stone to CCNP as that will get your resume looked at for mid level networking jobs

On another note I'm taking my computer science program's database course this semester. The professor seems to think that while it wouldn't help me pass any entry level administrator courses because they deal with knowing the vendor's software. I'd likely be able to pass a Master/Architect SQL cert exam after this course if I did well and understood the material. Debating this as there don't appear to be any "useful" or authoritative DB certs out there since MS has changed their system and Oracle has a different cert track for every single product they have ever offered :P

I'm not a fan of Evo either, especially after reading this thread. If there was real life action to be taken it was Pang's call, and he made it. Going on after the fact against hanlong, who by most accounts is accepting his fate in the game and moving on is rather petty. Doing it to TC would be more reasonable since he continues to harm the game and not let go.

For the record I do already have a job. I worked at CenturyLink as a tier IV data repair tech that involved going around and fixing customers in multiplexers and aggregators(mostly rebuilding cross connects/re-enabling ports/building aggregator profiles and whatnot) for 3+ years but being low in seniority meant I was pulling graveyard shifts. Now I work for the government as a telecom specialist which is a lot less tiresome but the pay isn't fantastic for all of the hats I have to wear so this defo isn't going to be my permanent job, been doing this for about a year. Getting certs is all just prep for future jobs to make my resume look sexier and possibly be in a better position to demand better pay etc...

If anyone is still interested I believe I'm going to go for a CCNA then CCNP just because that track seems to be one of the sexier ones out there for IT jobs. I've been looking at CAPM, since I don't have the experience as a manager required for a PMP, but have heard it may not be worth it.(I realize that's not exactly an IT cert but many in IT have a PMP)
