WoW is a ridiculously immersive game, and the casual player can still find plenty of things to do without ever setting eyes on the forums/cesspool. Even advanced raiding min/max type players can do all the research they need on third-party forums or database sites. Same goes for other MMOs to varying degrees.

The alliance server is nothing without AT. People take pride in the alliances they play in, and how those alliances compare and relate with other alliances. IRC and chats can be logged, but it isn't the same as a good old-fashioned BBS.

The game in general is not very immersive, not by the fault of the current admins but by the nature of a decades-old gaming format. There isn't a good means for alliance-to-alliance interactions to take place, outside of the forums or the War Room page.

Simple question: can anybody show me long-term correlation of any sort between tax rates on "job creators" and unemployment? State or federal, pick your metric. For something so deeply ingrained in one party's platform that 10:1 cut-to-tax plans are rejected, it should be trivial to show the link.

"Job creators" is usually meant to describe top earners, but I'd be curious to see any supposed link to corporate tax rates as well.

It's also a profitable alternative to vacation mode. If you know you're going to be away from the game for a few days, you can at least gain something from those unused turns instead of them ticking over 120(120).

It's one thing to log on quickly during a full-speed kill run, in fact it's entirely reasonable to have the login bookmarked on your mobile (or, already waiting to log in if you're expecting visitors).

What can't easily be done on a phone is everything after logging in. Quickly refreshing your news to see the speed of hits, loading up the private market to buy/sell units, buying food from the public market, and finally cashing turns all take time, especially any place you have to input numbers in a text box. Three times in the past two sets I've been able to log on during a kill run, but haven't been able to do any effective walling and died within a few seconds of doing so.

As an alternative (or in addition to) slowing down attacks, it would be nice to see some sort of defensive capability added to the main page. Maybe a temporary vacation mode that depends on turns -- forfeit 5 turns for 5 minutes of immunity. Or maybe a smoother way to take some defensive steps, like selling units on the private market (via pushbutton or slider, anything faster than a text box).

For what it's worth, I'm one of those members Atryn is talking about. I <3 SoF, and I hope a good resolution comes out of this rather than each side always accusing the other of lying/cheating/deceiving/whatever.

It isn't hard to imagine hanlong delighting in the strife he caused posting those logs, undoing his rivals' attempts to compete within the framework of the game. Of course it had a real-life impact, in time spent putting out diplomatic fires if nothing else.

Here's my take, your in-game actions don't define who you truly are, but they can give a pretty big hint. Way back when I dated somebody I knew cheated in the game, and chose to overlook. Guess what happened in real life?

GDI basically dictates 1:1 retals with the window lasting the duration of the set (ORKIN-style). If you get grabbed early on, you can wait a day or two until the mark is much bigger and nail them back for 20x or more what they took with one hit. Sure, they might RoR, but as soon as they do the doors are open for special attacks.

What makes saving turns vs. playing turns any more or less valid than the other? Delaying means cheaper tech and more targets to grab, while being an easier mark yourself.
