Hey System Glitch, welcome back to earth. Here is a small file I wrote up to send to a couple of new players I've chatted with over the sets. These are based on notes I gathered from forum threads when I first started playing again. Good luck and if you have any questions, just inbox me and I'll help if I can. -v

Bots:

NEVER attack anyone

Usually a 2 or 3 word name (although can be 1 or 4 words)

Every first letter in name is capitalized (except some may have lower case 'von' or 'of' 'the', etc.)

65 build per turn (240 CS or 166 Theo or 350-ish Dictator) unless attacks have destroyed a few.

Normally have a LOT of unbuilt land, especially early in the round.

Almost always have used all their turns. If you see what looks like a bot that is stocking turns, it's a trap. There ARE people who impersonate bots trying to get you to break GDI.

Will usually have been attacked multiple times by multiple countries.

If a target is in GDI and you are not sure if it is a bot, only attack once as most human players will only retal once so they don't break their GDI (and open themselves up to more harmful attacks such as GS/AB/missiles/etc.).

Riddler. While I don't have a huge role in what happens in Elders other then as a member, what I don't get is all the failed spy ops we were getting from your guys AFTER you asked for an extension. There must have been near a dozen people that joined our channel around 3 days ago that mentioned failed spy ops(myself included). If you were extending the fs for a week and a half, why the spy ops? -v

We have a winner! Arthur Miller won a Pulitzer Prize for a play called, "Death of a Salesman" back in like the 1940's.

He was dead the minute I saw his country name in the pre-game list. He ruined my set a year ago and I've been waiting to see that country name since. Sorry to all he hit, but like sfbob I thought his stupidity wouldn't start until later in the game. It took me a day to get my country oop and catch up to where I could kill him. -v

No, you could still destroy them, because they have attacked you more than 1 time. They grabbed you. You retal. They ROR. They are now fair game and the 25 strikes within 2 hours would no longer limit you.

I agree though that higher defense is the best solution.

The all-jetter can ruin your country now the way it stands. They could not kill you in 25 attacks (using my example). They would also have a 'time out' period after attacking, which would give you time to retal and/or take defensive measures.

This wouldn't have any effect on ROR as it is not designed to limit SS or PS, only harmful attacks. It also is not intended to limit normal attacks between players but to effectively deal with the griefers that attack non-GDI top players and then delete their country. If they (using my example) were only allowed 25 harmful attacks every 2 hours, it would take approximately 12-14 hours to get the kill instead of the 10-15 minutes it can be done in now prior to the griefer deleting their country.

Easy solution - only allow X number of attacks every X hour(s) if another player has not attacked you.

For example, if you have not been attacked more than once by another player, you can only perform 25 AB/GS/BR or 5 missile attacks every 2 hours. The attacked player would then be able to perform unlimited harmful ops, up to and including killing without restrictions.

Yes, 25 ABs or 5 nukes would still suck, but the potential for a griefer to ruin someone's set is minimized.

trumpoz has nailed it. 15 years ago if you'd come to the boards whining that you got suicided on because you were 'netting' and didn't have any defense you'd have been laughed off the boards. You'd have also been raped by anyone who could find your country. Remember the old saying, "All's fair in love and war"? At least we don't have to deal with multies (for the most part).
