When takeing a time out in grabing to get techs back up to par...

Is it more efficent to explore or cash to run turns
(Explore rate is @ 6 acres per turn)

and

Should I still do 1 PS a day? or
Sell off jets for now and restock them when I am ready to grab again?

Commie does best when growing. Exploring is better than cashing for a CI.

Jets are cheaper to maintain than turrets however, if you have been grabbing a lot it may be better to sell off jets and build up turrets to make it harder for people to retal you.

If you are able to do 1 PS per day without getting suicided on then you should continue to do so.

Once you're over 20k acres, either build CS or start cashing depending on how you plan on destocking.

No matter what strat you play ideal BPT is determined by acreage.
Your finishing acreage should be estimated at the beginning of the set. Estimates vary depending on what server you're playing and whether you plan on going all-x or doing x # of grabs per day or 1 PS per day or a couple of grabs & a PS. Once you've set a land goal you decide how many cs you need to build (as quickly as possible while still getting your economy going).

The formula is: Ideal BPT =sqrt(AcresToBuildOtherThanCS*GvtCS/4)

While I'd love to take credit for the formula & the chart The formula came from a spreadsheet I got from slag back at 2025 & the chart came from a post by patience also back at 2025, both around '07 or so. Although changes have been made here at EE I still feel this info is fairly accurate.

I didn't think he was asking for end of set advise, but since you brought it up, yes, there is a point at which you should stop exploring/grabbing/building. I usually cash the last few turns. The way I determine when to do so is like this:
1. see how many turrets I make per acre =Ind*(Turret%*1.86)*IndTech*GvtInd
GvtInd
Normal 1
Comm 1.35
2. see how many turns are left in the set
3. if the # of turrets produced over the remaining turns would cost less to buy than building that acre then it's time to cash out remaining turns.(If grabbing jet loss must also be factored in)

So if your indy tech is low you will need to start cashing sooner than if your tech is high.

He was asking whether he should cash or explore. And he did not consider the third option which is to build construction sites. But when he should switch from exploring to cashing/building CS is completely dependent on his end of set destocking plan.

And your calculation only works for commie indies who do not plan on stocking and destocking, so its designed for people that are choosing to not play indy the optimal way.

And just for the record that non stocking/destocking non "optimal" CI has also taken 2nd in express.

I think the ideal BPT depends on how you run your country as well. It might be different for different players.

Well Rob, I will concede that play style & game circumstances may effect Ideal BPT slightly. However, I still think the numbers from the formula or the chart are a good starting point. Especially for the people asking what Ideal BPT is.

haven't seen that any1 had done it and knowing how low mil prices can be at mid set commy reseller wouldn't be that effective.

Not mid-set, but they will do it late set if they didn't grow beyond the 20k to 30k acre range and boosted their bpt instead.

If you switch to MBR, you want to only be dropping stockpile, and not reselling, until there's about 2-3 days left in the set.

And you would switch to theocracy when switching to MBR, of course.

exploring is safe option, grabbing gives more land and nw you lose on attack you gain back soon (if you don't get retalled more than you grabbed or at all).

seems like if you get your techs up from the very start on commie they are a lot easier to keep there vs having to slow down later.

I have no fancy numbers i just usually spend half of my money on tech before i run my turns and once they are up i find it easy to keep up.
