TL;DR - I was hit by 3 turds, of which two/three could be colluding with one or both the others. Either way they are the aggressors, two hit me while I was at war and two of them did not accept retals. Result: they are not staying in 2A it seems and I am staying + I'm happy about this result.
Maybe someone also learned that if you hit someone who is at war or you don’t accept retals you might have run out of luck.
Full story:
I am The division bell (#16) in tournament. There's been some speculation here from people who dont see the full news, which is why I feel the need to clarify a thing or two. So here's some info about my reset and why I did what I did. I had a solid start, some overflow, nothing bad. I was heading a bit north of 30m I assume, I was all-xp and had no harmful intentions towards anyone. Then sometime a bit after the mid point of the reset this happens:
A brigade from Groningae (#12) has invaded your lands!
Their forces broke through your defences!
They took:
648 Acres (1050 Gained)
no worries I thought, I retalled 1:1 and thought that was it. I was sitting on about 150-180 total turns at the time, not to look intimidating but because I had been saving up turns for a mass explore at the time and was waiting for stuff to sell. This ended up being good for me, but could just as likely have been problematic.
#12 thought, because he could break me still, that he shouldnt accept a retal so he RoRed me and said as much:

Hi,
Your ratio NW/land was just low, that's why I attacked you. Your ratio is still a lot higher than mine, so I attacked back. We can PS each other the rest of the round if you like to. I know I can't block your attack and you can't block mine.
cheers
I don't know about you guys but that changes my goals from peaceful netting, to removing this turd from Game A so that I can have a decent round the next one. If I accept getting farmed without retalling, why wouldn't the rest of the players in the game do the same? So I geared for war. Easy enough, I am a commie indy, I can make however many spies I want, and oil is cheap. Target was better geared for war than I but I hoped I would have the FS and be able to pull it off though turn advantage/FS advantage and by easily gaining the spy advantage as a CI.
War begun, I told him he should accept 1:1 retals, and it quickly became clear to me and to #12 that he couldn't do anything at all. He sent a few angry messages and then he self-deleted.

But while the fight was going on 2 things happened:
1. I was hit with a
flufferpunch by Chonistan (#7), who either thought he could get away with hitting me because I was hard at war, OR he was doing it to help his friend. I don't know which. Either he is a
fluff or a cheater, either way I would give him a chance to show me if he was worth warring or not (since my set is over why don't I remove more than one idiot from 2a?).
So when I retalled #7 I sent him a message along the lines of "do you feel lucky, punk?" in order to see if he backs down and apologises for hitting me while I was at war or if he hits me and I can appease my war urges without feeling bad about taking out someone who doesn't deserve every bit of my fury.
2. The other thing that happened right in the middle of my war with #12 and before it was a massive amount of hostile ops by someone I didn't catch for 3 straight days.. remember I said earlier that by the time the war begun I made sure I had a HUGE spy advantage on #12. Which means whoever hit me with ops without failing a single one was NOT #12, maybe the first batch but not the last. I concluded that someone was helping #12 by doing hostile ops on me while I was warring him, and I tried reporting but it resulted in nothing. Maybe I was wrong and he got his ops in by luck or something? It wasn't even on his normal login times, so if I am indeed wrong I gotta say I will be surprised.
As it happens #7 took the bait and made war with me which showed me what a
fluff he was and that fight was over before it started. During the war with #7, an identical country, NicePerson (#13), with identical build and military make up and tech makeup (different govts) hits me. Coincidence? I think not. Especially because of the identical look of the country. He tells me he hit me because I was at war again.
That can either mean he thinks I'm a soft target because I was at war, OR he could be helping his friend. I more or less concluded that his country does not benefit from grabbing me so the only viable reason to hit me was that he was helping his friend(again that assumes he isn't just bad, which I guess is possible with that build) This time I had less patience since the round is ending and there was more than just the hit to worry about since they were identical countries and that's too many coincidences for me to handle. So I retalled and made some ops but forgot to login for a while because I was busy IRL. So this fight cost me a lot because of that mistake(he got missiles and ABs in because I was not able to do my planned login before he came online).
Either way I have 5 goals:
1. stay in game A
2-4. make sure these 3 a-holes don't stay in game A.
5. Teach one or three of these people or an on-looker to treat people with respect in this game, because some countries may be looking soft but are played by someone who will not back down from a fight and have the skills and the motivation to make you look like a total nub in front of everyone in the process.
Should I succeed with all of these I will be happier than if I managed to net the set out and beat my expectations. I will never be the aggressor but I can flush down turds like the best!
