Make bottom feeding completely unworthwhile, and retaling a significantly larger country easier. That'll allow new players to find their feet, and make "good" netgainers at LaF and other alliances actually work for their top place finishes. You farm the fluff out of untags and small alliances and sprint to 50k land, it doesn't take a strat genius to finish big.

My way of thinking being the following: the admins of this game are far too politically involved in it to separate themselves from partisan behind the scenes maneuvering.. You can't see it because you are a part of the cabal.

When you have admins trolling there is cause for concern.

We would obviously be better with admins who are completely uninvolved with the game. Oh wait.

At least from my POV people say LaF ruins the game because they are the originators of landgrabbing and retal policies that are meant to protect their own members but become overreaching, other alliances see LaF do it and monkey see monkey do. Now the whole server is using the same heavy handed retal policies except the little guy who was getting pummeled to start with and are now getting it even worse.

You can say it's alliance server or whatever, and you're right but it still chokes out more and more of the lower rung of the alliance society IMO.

dagga is clueless, so I'd advise everyone to ignore him... the change panels are made up of war folks and netting folks, as the changes are well discussed before being implemented...

One thing I don't get is when there's a pro war change (like being able to declare peace on targets immediately) the netting folks say "ok cool, let's see how this impacts things..." but when there is a change that may just possibly help people netting just a little bit, some people who have more time than anything else claim the sky is falling and we're the most corrupt admins ever.

Like I've said numerous times -- the game as it stands right now was a gift to the community. We put it up in the short term for all of you. Our overall goal is and always was to build a game capable of being something larger. Those who complain about the admins/mods are certainly in the minority, and they're going to be in the super minority once our next round of changes are in.

Posts like dagga's make me happy that I'm putting my effort toward expanding the game, creating a new experience and moving the game into new markets. I know he won't be happy though -- all of those things I'm doing are clearly pro-netting.

as far as land:land retals -- they were put in after people kept topfeeding LaF's fatter countries.
If I remember correctly, that policy was put into place to make a point to say "we're not going to allow you to topfeed our members" and use it as a precursor for war. LaF was forced to fight over that issue numerous times...

People act like LaF's leaders are sitting in a smoke filled room somewhere going "how can we make a policy that screws everyone out of their land?" when in reality, the policies LaF makes are direct reactions to things that OTHERS are doing to LaF ingame. Everything from land:land to suicider policies came out of real, in-game issues.

I'd also note that all of LaF's policies always go both ways -- we practice what we preach.

who in there right mind will have policies that encourage others to do damage to them?

of course the extremes are someone whos super phat and has no defence is too attractive, but someone whos super thin and teching especially with 8k tech early this set could grab the phattest players and lose no where near as much after a retal

then if you make land:land not factor in buildings gain and bonus acres gain enough people will still want to grab you even with land to land

and that renders certain strats less efficient making the game a little boring

some alliances have started include ghost acres on retals on land:land retals (outside pacted cases) so attacker loses more than gains.

Again Pang I don't blame LaF. I understand where they are coming from wanting to protect their own members. I personally feel the most recent retal policy change along with the inablity to drop land was a bigger FU to new players and small alliances then land:land.

All of that is moot. I don't view LaF as a bad guy, what I'm describing is merely a common perception IMO.

And whoever said C:C retals should come back hasn't considered the casual all explore type players. They'd be forced out of the game or into a way they dont want to play
