there have been numerous posts in the last few months about how reselling off the private market at express is neither fun nor productive

indeed since i usually spy on every H at least once during every set i can say that i have seen very very few H resellers in recent sets and even fewer after the ALCSA or oct10 changes

that is true even though military prices have been high on express for many weeks

so i tried a reseller myself to see why all the complaints were coming about this strat and why noone was playing what should be and once was a productive and popular strat

Obviously, the strat requires numerous transactions in order to be successful. In primary and tourney this is not a problem because you can sell off your inventory once a day and still accumulate a large number of transactions. On Express, in order to acquire as many transactions as you get on primary you have to complete a new complete inventory clearance every two hours. The time demands on a player are thus considerable. There are stretches of the early morning hours where the number of players on line is minimal and sales decline.

The Oct10 market change which delayed how quickly goods arrive on the market negatively impacted resellers.

I have a couple of suggestions.
1) allow resellers to have their goods reach the market instantly
2) build in a specialized option for resellers
when their inventory completely sells out, 45% of their remaining inventory is immediately placed on the market and they are charged a turn

#2 is a terrible idea IMO. if you make things like reselling automatic it just takes away from the skill required to do good.

the whole point of being better then other people in this game is the fact that some people put more time/dedication into it. just because a reseller strat requires more logging in doesnt mean it should be given special options. if you can play the strat due to time, play something else.

i have often said that this server needs to get away from the idea that you can log in six times and win with an allx country

we have finally passed that threshold
the lack of resellers though imo is a negative development

I was playing this game when you were still being breast feed. I know more about it and ways to play it than you ever will.

The thing you dont seem to realize is: most of us do not have to fluff and complain that a ceartian strat is too strong. We have played this game for 10+ years with minimal rule changes.

While small changes here and there are always good for the game, you seem to come up with a new change that you seem to think needs to be implemented EVERY SINGLE WEEK!

Play the game, if you can not play it with one strat, play with a different one.


As to me having brain damage, the reason I never respond to your insults (which ironically you dish out just as much as your opponents, yet you seem to think that you are on the high ground) is because they do not bother me. I have a wife and a kid, a job that is so far above your head you would probably implode if you even attempted to do half of what I do in a day, and more friends on this game than you probably have in real life.

I posted on another thread as well, but i also feel that the 'return goods' button should be removed for this server because we can all limit the time our goods are on the market now. would make for much more strategic pricing and possibly keep prices from dropping so fast.

Disagree with both points. If you don't want to commit the time to a reseller, choose a different strat. If you want to play it right, you can enjoy the benefits.

dont think first point was made in regards to automation. as i understand why the change was made, as a TTR/TMBR player, i preferred when there was an odd chance that my goods would reach the market instantly.

I think it's great that you keep suggestion ideas, even if only the occasional one gets implemented it still stirs up thought and discussion. I agree with the others though that making a reseller more automated kind of takes away the skill of it. For those that have the time to put into it, they should be rewarded for their effort. One of the main issues with reselling in express is that players batch their turns so much so there are times when the market is stagnant but that is the nature of express. If we get more players then that will help more than anything.

I don't think reseller is a valid strat in Express. Ds and Hs can supplement their income by doing a little reselling on the side during the set and it makes sense for TTRs to switch to MBR for the last 12-24 hours but otherwise it just doesn't work due to the length of the set and the turn rate.

guess u missed my l33t country then? I switched to reseller very early this morning. only had to resell twice, and made big profits both times.

If i'd teched this morning, then switched to mbr, probably would have finished higher ... But who knows.

how much money, dollar wise, would you say you actually made through those sales, izarcon?

and did you limit to two sales due to time, or because your pm wouldn't replenish quick enough to spend all your money?

i made roughly £1b. Managed to get troops to sell for 160 and tanks for 590 so i didn't lose too much nw in the process.

I would have easilly sold loads more, but as it was, i was buying out my whole pm all day and i had about 15k turrets left on it at the finish.

Think next time i'll have to make a small jump on the day before at slightly higher prices. because i think i could probably double the bushels i had stocked but seem to have nowhere to spend the cash.

Was only at just over 4m nw when i made the initial jump. So i gained about 18m nw in 18hrs.

Another solution would be for me to get more land, especially for destocking. i think that was what JJ was trying before he got grabbed.

Umm lincoln, ford makes more post about the game then most people and is busy setting up the wiki site, other then suggestions what else do you do for the game??

Please note Express is only a TINY part of the overall game.

Unlike you, he has access the Development board so he has direct input to the game.
