how a country with 400 acres and 360k spies can fail 3 normal spy ops in a row on a 10k acre country with 600k spies.

the spy code really needs to be looked at, its retarded.

I can explain, just not now, give me a shout on IRC in 10 hours pls in NBK channel!

Basically itll cap at 10% success rate ish, takes about 50 ops to reach cap, probably 80 ops in your case. Other words your target was spied out.

360k < 600k

SPAL isn't everything, total spy count matters, too.

Wasn't it changed so that raw spies is more relevant than SPAL?

did they do this to prevent 400 acre countries from dominating 75 of 80 spy ops every day?

because since i was like twelve it's been spal.. and here i am still doing the division to see where i am :P

certainly seems like SPAL shouldn't be the entirety of the equation, but it sure should be a big part of it.

spal should be everything.

people who choose to keep more spies per acre (thus more expenses per acre) should be rewarded for it.

K4F i know about spy DR. this country was not in it i assure you of this. not to mention standard spy ops are not affected by DR.

on a practical way of thinking about it:

If a small country (100 acres) has 10,000 spies, that's an impressive SPAL of 100.

If a large country (10,000 acres) has 500,000 spies, that's a SPAL of 50.

However, in a real-world setting, at least as far as your ability to perform ops on another country, wouldn't you have more faith that a network of 500,000 spies could outmaneuver a network of 10,000 spies moreso than 10,000 spies could outmaneuver 500,000?

Perhaps SPAL should be the defensive metric (which would make more sense, 10,000 spies could probably defend 100 acres), but total spies should be involved in the offensive metric, since 500,000 spies are going to have more capabilities.

Of course, that's just my way of looking at it. This game isn't necessarily realistic, since we've got countries that have 100k population and 5M troops.

Yeah I'm pretty sure total spy count is taken into account as well as SPAL.

SPAL implies spies per acre land

(spies*govtbonus*spytech + 1/4 allies)/land

vs your enemies

(spies*govtbonus*spytech + 1/4 allies)/land

keeping in mind that if attacker's land is much smaller than defenders land, then a penalty is applied to the attacker

so it's straight SPAL with a penalty for people who try to use 400 acre countries to do ops on 10k acre countries :P

apparently the penalty is about 90% failure.

well, if the penalty is proportional to size difference, that may make sense, especially if the country could've already been in spy DRs.

Sucks though, dude. :/
