Self Farming has too many advantages... yeah Mid/Bottom is better, but you need extra military, SDI and a nice SPAL or you are up to some troubles (Not to mention your target can always go after someone else in your tag)... Self Farmers don't have to deal with any of that at the expense of a few extra turns spent attacking...

Defense Helps shouldn't put any country in DR, is an abuse towards a rule, If Self Farmers want to be in DR, then the very least we should expect is the attacks to do damage. :)
