To the mods: If this isn't cool, my apologies. I tried to ask on chat, but no official mods were available to answer my question on whether a solicitation like this was okay or not, so if it's not, I won't be the type of person to fluff and moan about it getting deleted.

To everyone else:

I'm participating in a Relay for Life. For those of you unfamiliar with what it is, it's a 12-hour relay walk (ours goes from 6p-6a) that is designed to raise money for the American Cancer Society for cancer research and for helping out cancer patients. It's a great charity that helps a lot of people, including my mother-in-law before she lost her 2nd battle with breast cancer about 5 years ago.

I know there are probably people here who already participate in other events like this or who donate to their own causes, but if there's anyone here who has even $10 or so to donate to the ACS on behalf of my team, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've made it my goal to break the $1,000 mark and right now I'm a few hundred dollars short and the event is officially tomorrow. Of course, if you see this on Sunday or next week, the window to donate stays open for at least a little while beyond when the event ends, so please check the site if it's something you'd be willing to donate to.

If you do have the money and you don't donate to other causes similar to this, please don't make excuses for why you shouldn't and please don't wait, saying "I'll do it later." These are the types of things that prevent people from donating. Just open your heart and open your wallet.

My cousin (and absolute favorite person in the Universe) Nancy lost her 14 year battle with terminal breast cancer a couple years ago.

That you would give such an effort for such a cause speaks to your character. Being laid off and all, I could only donate 10 bucks to your team, but it's a done deal. Thank you for caring so much about something that you take the time and effort to make a difference.

I believe the window will still be open on Tuesday. But at the same time, if money's that tight, I understand.

But for the rest of you, $120 away from my goal! And I know I'll have one more decent-sized donation coming in from a family member. If a couple more people can throw $10-20 my way, I'd certainly make it.

I did indeed. $1,000 exactly.

Of course, about 95% of that was raised elsewhere, but I did get 4-5 people donate from here, which did help me get there, considering I doubt my last donor (not from here) would've gone much higher than he did (he gave me the exact amount I needed to match my goal).

However, the window apparently remains open throughout the Relay For Life "season" with events going on all summer, so if you want to donate still, you certainly can!

If you wanna see something amazing...this little girl became a HUGE twitter trend yesterday or the day before..(my days are messed up right now) anyhow she and her sister have now raised 10000 dollars for her sister's run this weekend.
