so countries are grabbing from way higher NW so the country grabbed cannot retal, and doing it all the time?

or is that a bottom feed?
Damn missed it

Top Feeding is when you have a Jet Heavy, far lower acreage country than your target or your land target is undefended and you hit it.

What you described is bottom feeding. Both piss people off.

As long as there's self farming in FFA, there will always be top feeding.

can't really call it a top feed if NW's are equal and Jet heavy does not apply if it takes as much or more to break the grabbing country as it did to break the country being grabbed

guess i was bass ackwards then in what i was asking

Damn missed it

topfeeding and bottomfeeding are both really natural consequences of 1:1 tag retals

topfeeding is hiding behind only letting them hit you back once

bottomfeeding is hiding behind only letting them hit you back with ss/ps that they cant do

i define the different grabbing styles by intent

topfeeding> benefit after 1 pretty guaranteed retal and expect the other guy to lose out
landtrading> benefit after 1 pretty guaranteed retal except only target countries that will be able to hit you back for enough to also benefit
midfeeding> benefit after no retal hitting people that are on the edge of being able to retal you
decwarfarming> hit people in GDI that probably cant retal you
bottomfeeding> hit people that probably cant retal you

grabbing isnt all that common in FFA but i havnt checked 16 country tags or untagged lately

when i played in a solo tag id gt hit a fair bit but it would be normal to have a few hits on my 16 countries in a day

most being topfeeds and the occasional midfeed from someone who dumped stock, people didnt seem to landtrade very much

if someones obviously landtrading and you hit them with the right size country for the right amount of acres at the right networth with the right defence it doesnt make too much difference to them hitting you back or hitting themselves

but maybe thats too hard for people to calc, or theyd just rather put less effort in only grabbing occasionally and deliberately falling behind in land so they can topfeed

one thing i find fairly uncouth is grabbing others with aided countries

if you run 3 tech leeches for your commie indy grabber most people will let it slide but if you run 3 self farms for you techer grabber it looks lamer

also if you dont run all your countries the same way, grabing, selffarming, landtrading, exploring it gets complicated

This makes it sound like top-feeding is a consequence of self-farming, which is most certainly is not. As enshula said, it's a consequence of 1:1 retals. Top-feeding is definitely more beneficial due to self-farming, but I know I used to always top-feed MIA and PANLV back when I was running TIE in E2025 simply because they were always so fat, and back then, self-farming didn't happen much at all.
