So I had the opportunity to go to my first MLS game Wednesday night (Seattle Sounders versus Real Salt Lake) and despite the disappointing outcome and pouring rain it was an amazing experience.

I've been to Mariners, Brewers, and Seahawks games that had more than the ~40,000 attending the Sounders game but the environment Thursday night was nowhere near as awesome.

Looking forward to attending more games in the future and in better seats so I can sing and dance in the mix of the crowd and not watch from the nosebleed seats I was in.

Does anyone else regularly attend professional soccer games?

edit: Sorry for not posting this on GT, was just a natural reflex to post here ha.

My siblings go to a few Sounders games a year. I would definitely go to some if I still lived in the area. I've only heard rave reviews about the experience.

While I would love to sit in that section sometime, it is right behind the goal. I was in the nosebleed section (although there isnt a bad seat in that stadium) behind the goal on the opposite end of the field. Fortunately it was the side of the field that the 2 goals that night were scored.

Also thanks for the link, good article.

Detmer, you have to go. It was awesome! The entire stadium was packed (except for the uppermost deck).

Its taking time.

but MLS seems to be buildings slowly from the ground up a good strong, passionate base.

Still small....but making progress.

There are like 13 soccer fans in the us.. the odds of one of those 13 folks being on AT is very small

Ya I've been to a few TFC games. Always sit in the supporters section. Amazing experience. You don't sit down at all for the entire game. Singing and chanting non stop. I'm an Argos (CFL) season-ticket holder, I've seen the Leafs play in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit, I've been to NHL playoff games, a ton of Jays games and other MLB games around the States... I've even seen the NLL championship game where Toronto won and I can say that none of those come even close to the level of engagement that I have when I'm at a TFC game. It's just awesome.

I just read that MLS has taken over the #3 spot in average attendance for US sporting events. IT is growing, but there's no MLS team around here:(

I've been a Crew fan since day 1 - I went to 3 games when they had to play in Ohio stadium because the soccer-specific one hadn't been built yet. I've always thought soccer is a great fan experience, and I've never understood why ESPN is so against it whenever soccer is the news. Jim Rome is an idiot.

No team in Cleveland. :( I might like to start making the occasional trek to catch a Crew game now and then. But haven't had the time to consider setting that in motion set.

I hear Galaxy have got to the finals....

Nice swansong for Beckham, sounds like he's coming back to England next season.
