It was but apparently a mod deleted the post. Also We figured if we brought it to life on the regular forum, it would be an advertisement to have others buy in.

I know how some of you value the exclusivity of the patron board, but I personally don't care. Everyone should know they can buy in.

the biggest hurdles are deciding:
a) what you get for being a patron
b) the nature of the payment (one time lump vs a regular, but smaller, subscription)
c) how to sneak a camera into Martian's shower

we've been working on a few ideas and there are obviously pros and cons to each model -- both for the community and for the well being of the game. money always complicates everything.

I remeber bringing this up a year or so ago. One of the finer points somewhat against it was that we (as the Earth Empires community) would lose out on so much voting, which then increases the chances we snag a new player or two from time to time.

So, I would amend my suggestion-

Award patron status as a small recurring donation, which would auto-give you bonus points as they would normally be available (22- and 24-hour increments, with no delay). However, on your forum account, you'd have "patron points." You gain one point at any time you have patron status, but voted anyway. The points do nothing whatsoever ingame, but show how totally awesome you are here in the forums. Bragging rights plus the twofold ability to show you care about the game's success is win.

They're only a security feature in as far as they're a serious PITA to get around with bots; doable, sure, but a PITA.

They were disabled for a while due to something with pang's facebook implementation apparently....

We may space them out a bit at some point, but it would have to depend on the server, as express, for example, should still have a few captchas run during it, just to be safe.
