I noticed i started in GDI!!
were changes posted? Didnt martian say something bout beta testing first. lol
It added 500 to expenses right off the bat so if i leave gdi... can i rejoin???

this is a quote from the GDI information in game:

"In addition, you will not be allowed to commit offensive acts which are not standard strikes, planned strikes, or beneficial spy ops against other countries unless they have attacked you more than once."

Did you notice how it says "beneficial spy ops against other countries"

LOL, what kinda spy ops are beneficial?
1) plant new crops?
2) kill the ex-wife?
3) put money in your banks?

i also see it says burn oil... just how much got changed here?

if you get booted, its like getting tared and feathered.. i dont think all will be happy with this change.
I wonder if its 3 or 5 attacks.. maybe just 2... ouch. this might be the end of double tapping.

It really doesn't matter in Express. I'd rather have extra turns/booms than free GDI for like one day...

do the math.. 12,000 acres x 10=60k a turn x 800turns= 96mil

12k * 5 = 60k, 60k * 800 = 48m

meanwhile 16 bonus points = 8 turns i think, at 12k acres that should be at least 48m in actual dollars, not to mention the value of having those dollars before taking the 800 turns and using them to boost your position in the game going forward, don't bother with free GDI in express.

edit: i guess i shouldnt say that with such finality because maybe if you're a theo casher it could be worthwhile. or if you have stocked a ton of turns when you take the bonus. either way, how you choose to spend your bonus points in express is pretty meaningless as i said originally.

as a casher, pci boost should make you more money than the money saved with free gdi.
You can also do in your final turn PCI boost + cash + 70% tax. That'll give you 7.2x turns of income and only 1 turn of expenses/food.
Note: you only want to double taxes on final turn.

Not really true. Your first 16 bonus points would be used on very low acres and is unlikely to earn back 96mil calculation... at least for Theos. And that 96mil was only for the last 800 turns of the reset which has 1800 turns... and only on 12k land.

16 bonus points can only buy 4 PCI Booms, which is worth 8 additional turns of production. At 96m, you would have to be cashing 12m per turn to equal it and you won't have that much land to produce that much income by the 3rd day when you have to spend your first few bonus points.

I see 2 sides of the fence here. Yes, by calculations then you are right, it is more beneficial with free gdi. But the thing is that it is so spread out that you won't be able to take advantage of it.

You can do pci boost with the cash button. 3.6x per turn with only 1 turn of expense/food. Do that for 4 turns and receive instant cash for tech boost. That extra tech may boost you 100-200k per turn for the next 800 turns. So extra cash per turn will have a snowball affect hundreds of turns down the road which allow you to buy even more tech or more military to grab more land etc...

You can't just look at hard numbers straight from a calculator.

Exactly. I went 20 turns and then quit. I waited about 36 hours until I had 16 bonus points before I took another turn.

um... If any changes have happened, I don't think they were supposed to be made live; pang was working on some changes for express, but I'm pretty sure those aren't done yet...

I'll get back to you guys on this as soon as I can bump into pang & martian; otherwise, I'll take a peek at the code after some errands.

KK, somebody has butterfingers and clicked the wrong server for testing things heh; force gdi was set to yes on express instead of on an alpha server...

I HAVE **TEMPORARILY** MADE GDI FREE IN EXPRESS TO... TRY TO OFFSET THIS; Also, new starts won't start in GDI

Finally did the signature thing.
