nope. i sat thru a 7 hour download for the beta that wouldn't even start up on my Duo. well, maybe... i have to check out the EULA and see if it's acceptable to run on my Alienware. the beta said they wanted to monitor my memory and upload stuff from my harddrive and i ain't all that fond of that happening.

ugh. dang typos.

I will never play Diablo.... for purely petty reasons ;p

Back in 1996, when Diablo I was being hyped up, they released a downloadable demo. It was approximately 50MB, and I was still on my 28.8kbps. Many of you may remember the fragility of internet connections back in those days of dialup, and how massive 50MB was. In preparation for this ridiculous task, I thoroughly cleaned my PC, hoping to ensure it's stability for the days it would take to download.

So, after much preparation, I begin the download. I was afraid to touch the PC, in fear of it crashing and wasting the time spent. After an entire weekend, I've finally downloaded the 50MB, and rejoice.

I reboot the computer, install the demo, and ran the game. I was terribly unimpressed for the amount of work and anticipation I had put in. I proceeded to curse at my PC, and have never played a Diablo game since.

That story sounds like fluff after reading it again ;p

On the open weekend beta thing I only had time to test out two classes, I managed to play the Monk and the Witch Doctor, both were pretty cool. Although I have to admit the Barbarian looked like lots of fun too.

It looked hilarious when you were bashing zombies (or whatever they were) out in the graveyards and bits of stone from the graves were flying all over the place.

Demon Hunter looked a bit boring but Im sure theyll tweak it a bit too so it will get there. At the moment I have no idea what I will be playing but its leaning towards a Monk I think.

I tried the Monk, Barb, and DH during the beta. Barb I found to be too clicky, and was making my fingers hurt by the time I got to level 10. Monk was boring, but I thought he could be fun to play in later levels since he gets the group heal.

DH was my favorite because you can just turn on rapid fire an mow everybody down =)

I am going to play it and drop Star Wars The Old Republic probably. SWTOR is great but just not enough people and I am just not a fan of the overall setup of the game, but the storyline has been fun thus far.

from what i've seen on the beta, i think half as good or higher is a reasonable expectation.
it's fun, but replaying the same handful of quests is a bit tiring ;)

necromancer was good, was a little disappointed when it wasnt in this one, however the wizard would of had to be my choice to play after playing the beta. Just wish it would hurry up now, so close to it coming out.

God the memories from D2. I had to bootleg AOL internet sometimes. "LOST CONNECTION FROM SERVER" Finally get back online after the cdkey lockup after d/c...and you see the shrouded character instead of my level 90+ character :(

Required specs are really low on low settings/resolution. Check out tom's hardware. Really old hardware was doing 60+ fps on low settings.

Anyone who has tried it/played beta what are your impressions in comparison to D2?

I enjoyed the sorceress and summoner necro the most in D2. Just thinking about whether I should get it.

There is a fix for that in Diablo 3 site. If not applied you have to redownload whole thing.

Sad thing is that my preorder did not arrive.

Yeah it can only be played online. there is aloooot of talk about that on the blizzard boards. I would have liked to be able to play single player offline.

Playing a level 13 demon hunter atm.

Balanced character like it. Lot more thought has been put into skill combining compared to previous Diablo games.

So far I'm impressed. Like the game haven't been able to party play yet. Anyone who wants to add send me a forum PM ill hand you my battle tag.

Yeah I caved and got it late last night...
Given that you can dl a digital copy from battlenet, what is the point to pre-ordering it.. unless your internet connection is very fail.

@xaos: yeah I remember those days. I played diablo and diablo2 and loved them. IT's still gauntlet though:P

level 10 Monk and level 10 Demon Hunter. Had to rerun the downloader to re install it. got it working fine after that.
Was a little irritated to find out I can't use my toons from a different PC though. I wanted to be able to play from both my lappy and my PC and continue with the same toons, instead I have to create new toons on the lappy. sux balls :/
