Hopefully they modify the final battle to include tens of thousands more troops on both sides. In the book it just sounds epic but is overwhelmingly low in numbers (around 2k combined elves/men/dwarves vs 10k+ goblins), and Bilbo got knocked out in the middle of the battle xD

I actually think the third movie is not necessarily about the hobbit, but more about the time between the hobbit and the first lord of the rings book, I heard from someone (though I do not know how true this is) it will follow characters like Aragon.

Ok well you can say that about any book made into a movie, besides what did you want, a 5-6 hour movie? They left stuff out but that's life haha, to me the big thing they left out/changed was changing Glorfindel's character to Arwen. But still they are great moves :D

It's good they split it into several movies I would think. Besides the fact that they can make more money, It sucks when they try to cram a whole book into a 2 hour film. You lose a lot of the story.

Anyways, it sounds cool but I will not be watching this in theater either, I'll wait for this to be on movie central. Lol

I dunno. Ive read this many times over the years but I dont see how there is that much action to make 3 movies. Lord of the Rings yes, that was 3 books and a lot of story, but the Hobbit not so much.

One difference is that the Hobbit has much less character development and growth. It is a very plot driven story.

That said, two movies I could see. 3 movies? I'll see em all, but I don't think it'll work that well.

My copies of the books the Hobbit is 399 pages and LotR is 1160 pages. Though in LotR they cut out about half of the 3rd book.

I just finished the book of the hobbit. Now I am ready for the movie. I can see where they could make two movies but I'm not sure what they plan to do to make it into three...
