I seriously doubt colonizing Mars will happen in the next 50+ years.

manned flight to mars is possible inside next 50 years but colonization requires very big jumps in technology.

Unless we find some extremely valuable natural resources there I don't see it as economically viable to transfer people that far just for the sake of "colonizing". It'd make far more sense to colonize the moon first.
