I was wondering if there would be more wars and what the # of countries would be. I haven't been here long but when was the last big FFA war here in Empires?

Kohearts do you think its the fact that we are all grown up now that we don't war as much? Or the fact that there aren't many landgrabs outside of self farming

No limit to countries being run would give more power to the few that already run this server. 16 is enough...I might even make an arguement to lower it to 10 or 12.

I don't think the server would get over 3x its current size, it'd take forever for the netters to touch themselves if they ran too many

no lifer runs 1k countries and others ran 20-100 so that no lifer can ruin other's sets quite well.

by reading posts today and 10 years ago seems that nothing has changed.

I personally do not see it as black and white. With the start up tools. I could see massive clans filled with very generic quantity over quality countries. Think 100 farmers with low tech and all batch explore/build turns.

If there were no limit I would try and manage about 50. Who knows if I would have time for this but it would make wars more exciting because I could spend an evening killing as opposed to 3 kill runs.

But as people have stated. The person who has the most time and availability would be very powerful and could easily dominate those who were busy. That would ultimately make things less fun for the majority (who I believe would not have time for more than 20).

So with that said, I think 16 is a good compromise. I would prefer 25 myself.

Get rid of the cap, so I can sit at home playing this game with my obama ipad, collecting my obama checks, and ruin peoples sets.

despie, if i could run a lot of countries, i wouldn't bother with trading :p a few dozen landfarms makes things a lot easier

1 primary country and 99 landfarms, only problem would be turns to build all those acres grabbed (1k bpt would be minimum).

A better solution for lack of better terms would be bot countries generated by Admin that would act like any player-run country and would have varying strategies.

They would retal hits on escalating levels based on defined guidelines and to make things more even, give those bot countries exact and daily refreshed missile levels per acre in order to discourage outright land farming.

I can't believe this isn't within the capabilities of programming.

Not necessarily, after a while you lose interest when you do same thing over and over.., I have 2 countries total, all servers combined :-(

dragon: there's an AI forum (and has been for a while) that i believe has something like 10 or 15 people actively playing with writing bots. and a server specifically for that. i'm assuming that the end goal of that is to test the feasibility of rolling those into common use on player servers too.
