I do not understand how you guys put up with this - a healthcare system thats rip you a new one!
It's like.. when on earth are you guys going to finally put those greedy bastards against the wall and shoot them? It's overdue a revolution!
6 weeks of hospital care for mum:
6*7 = 42 days
2 months of neonatal care for baby:
2*30 days = 60 days
in some other article it said it was by Caesarian section
somehow this all add's up to almost a million dollars..
In europe:
42 days of care for mum - 520/540e per day, I'll count it at the more expensive one
540 * 42 = 22 680e
Intensive care for newborns @ 2690e/day
2690 * 60 = 161 400 euros
Birth by Complicated Caesarian Section - 4200e one time cost
Grand cost to state: 188 280
amount charged parents - you don't want to know, a fraction of that thanks to universal healthcare
but the true cost is still 240 000$, a quarter of the cost of Hawaii. This $240k is the "comparable" cost, the price the parents would pay is like I said earlier, so small you don't want to know.
But how on earth do you guys put up with a system that charges you 4x more??
Do they have nobel-prize winning brain surgeons on 24x7 standby at the bedside?
I get the idea of the hospital needing to make a profit, but that would account for a 20-30% margin on goods and services sold not 400%.
