Talk all the fluff you want, it is the only major spectator sport that is byob and has 150k+ in attendance.

Every nascar hater I have taken with me to camp and attend a race has begged to go again. Not as much about the race itself as it is the atmosphere for most. everyone should experience a race tailgate.

I would go to one in a heartbeat but I don't see how people can watch a race on TV.

Same way you watch any other sport. Without interest it will be boring. Trying to understand just how difficult what they are doing is, the science that goes into the sport, the teamwork required, and having a favorite driver to pull for all help. Beer too. Can't forget the beer. I'll admit the race is usually on in the background while I'm doing something constructive.

Nothing better than Talladega on saturday night before the race....

I was at Hallowdega in 2009. That place is crazy when camping. It was like a Halloween Mardi Gras. Not to mention that the time zone was an hour behind what i was used to and that was daylight savings weekend too. Was quite a system shock. I think there are something like 60,000 camp sights there. Lots of fun, but my tickets were on row 9 so i couldn't see fluff. one of the few sports where the more expensive tickets are higher up.

that was the year that my boy mark martin almost wan the cup. that race he finished the race after flipping upside down on the last lap. his car landed on its wheels and he finished 100 yards or so to the finish line. That was the era of those stupid ass and dangerous spoilers.

well ford, we can agree here...i love nascar too.

My favorite is Kyle Busch, second fav is Jimmy Johnson (yes, i liked him before he won his first championship).

I've only ever been to see one race, Dover, June 2005.

And yes, the sport is just as boring as any other sport, if you don't have a team you cheer for, so watch a couple races and see if any driver stands out to you. Find one that seems to suit your style and cheer for them.

i used to hate jeff with the fire of 1000 suns, but i kinda like the dude now.

i was a Mark Martin fan, but when he retired i have shifted to Denny Hamlin. His ties with MJ and the Hornets won my loyalties. i think he is the only jordan brand sponsored driver. that and that year, 2010 i think, he won like 8 races, one of them were less than 3 weeks after knee surgery for a torn ligament. he had to be helped into and out of the car. that fluff was real as fluff.

Haven't been to any official Nascar stuff but been to some local stuff here and there, mostly in Sonoma and Portland, OR.
